Wild Marvel Casting Leak: Elliot Page & Hunter Schafer Reportedly in Talks for MAJOR MCU Roles!

Two wild Marvel rumors claim that trans actors Elliot Page and Hunter Schafer are in talks for roles in the MCU. The rumors are linked to the X-Men reboot and possibly other projects.
What are the Marvel rumors?
The rumors come from MyTimeToShine, so take them with a big grain of salt. The account’s scoops seem to have fallen by the wayside after Marvel shut down CanWeGetToast for leaking Captain America 4 images.

Hunter Schafer as an X-Men?
According to the account, trans actor Hunter Schafer, known for HBO’s Euphoria, is reportedly in talks to play Mystique in Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot. Since Mystique is a shapeshifter, you can see where they’re going with this.
Marvel Comics also retconned Nightcrawler to have two mothers, Mystique and Destiny. This suggests Mystique can shapeshift down to the atomic level, allowing her to transform into a man and produce sperm.

Jennifer Lawrence and Rebecca Romijn previously played Mystique in the Fox X-Men movies.
Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde
Elliot Page had talks with Marvel?
As for Elliot Page, the role remains unknown, but it’s said that Page has met with Marvel about a potential project.
Page is, of course, known for playing Kitty Pryde in X-Men: The Last Stand and Days of Future Past, back when Page was credited as Ellen Page. It’s safe to assume Page won’t reprise the role of Kitty Pryde—unless Marvel pulls a move like Netflix’s Umbrella Academy and retcons the character’s gender. Maybe we’ll see a Jimmy Pryde in the MCU?!
Or maybe Elliot Page is actually playing Destiny or even Mystique???

What is going on with the X-Men in the MCU?
Kevin Feige has confirmed the X-Men will be a big part of the MCU following Avengers: Secret Wars, which gets released in 2027:
“I think you will see that continues in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize. Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
Marvel has three untitled release dates set for 2028, which is thought to be for X-Men. It’s also been said both Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars may feature a sprinkle of X-Men characters before they all make their way into the MCU. Storm recently appeared in What If…? Season 3.
