AMC will be releasing new seasons of your favorite Walking Dead spinoffs in the new year.
A new year means new seasons of fan-favorite spinoffs in The Walking Dead universe! The main series concluded over two years ago, but that doesn’t mean the stories of some of your favorite TWD characters have ended. AMC will release new seasons of two of the spinoffs.
When AMC announced that that the eleventh season of TWD would close out the series fans were deeply saddened, but the promise of additional stories within the universe soften the blow. TWD TV universe currently consists of the main series, three spinoffs, and three direct spinoffs, which serve as sequels to the flagship. TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple has teased that there are more stories in the works.

Both of these characters were initially introduced in the main series, and their stories are continued in Dead City, which premiered in June 2023 and has been renewed for a second season.
The six-part first season picked up several years after the conclusion of the main story and found Maggie enlisting the help of her longtime enemy Negan. Her son had been abducted by The Croat (Željko Ivanek), a former member of Negan’s Saviors, and, unknown to Negan, Maggie arranged the release of her son in exchange for Negan.

Negan was introduced to the Dama (Lisa Emery), an ally of The Croat’s Burazi, who appears to be the leader of criminal elements in Manhattan. She desires Negan to step back into his old ways to aid her in taking over the island.
The teaser trailer for season 2 leads viewers to believe Maggie and Negan will again be at odds. Things could prove very interesting as Negan, complete with a new leather jacket and a new issue of Lucille, reverts to his villainous ways. This won’t sit well with Maggie, as Negan is the one who brutally killed her husband, Glenn (Steven Yeun).
Cohan and Morgan will be joined by returning cast members Gaius Charles, Željko Ivanek, Mahina Napoleon, and Logan Kim. The new season has added several new cast members including Kim Coates, Dascha Polanco, Jake Weary, Keir Gilchrist, and Pooya Mohseni.
The Walking Dead: Dead City will return to AMC and AMC+ in Spring 2025.

The series was then renewed for a third that will be released in 2025. The first two seasons were set and filmed in France, with the second bringing Daryl’s (Norman Reedus) best friend, Carol (Melissa McBride), back into the storyline. As he tried to make plans to return home, he encountered a group, The Union of Hope, who needed his assistance in transporting a young boy, who was believed to be the one to save humanity, to a safe location. The ending of that season set up Carol’s journey to find Daryl as he never returned to the Commonwealth as promised.
The next season picks up days after events of the first and finds Carol actively looking for Daryl. This leads her to a journey to France where they are reunited and come against Genet (Anne Charrier), leader of the Pouvoir. This season concludes as Daryl and Carol journey to England via the Chunnel.
The third season will see the duo make an “interesting stop” before continuing their journey to Spain. Ultimately, they long to return home, but it is a struggle, and their journey takes them further from that goal.
Reedus and McBride will return for the third season but it is unclear if any other surviving characters from the first seasons will return. Several others have been added to the cast for the upcoming season including Stephen Merchant and Spanish actor Óscar Jaenada and Eduardo Noriega, Alexandra Masangkay, Hugo Arbués, Candela Saitta, and more.
