Fans clamor for The Walking Dead to be adapted into an animated series like Invincible for a faithful portrayal.
Fans express desire for a true-to-comics adaptation, hoping for actors to reprise roles in voice acting.
Even though AMC’s The Walking Dead came to an end in November 2022, there’s plenty of zombie-filled life left in the franchise to uncover yet, as showcased in itsnumerous spin-off series’. However, as the masterminds behind the beloved show conjure up ways to keep the dead living, fans seemingly only have one idea on their minds about where it should go next and that’s down the road of animation.
Over the years, Robert Kirkman’sThe Walking Dead comics have seen adaptations into video games, such as Telltales 2012 episodic graphic adventure and, of course, the live-action series starring Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus. It was previously reported that Kirkman is already interested in developing the comics into an animated series but, unfortunately, encountered issues with AMC regarding rights, so it seems as though The Walking Dead won’t be reanimated anytime soon. Regardless, fans are eager for the creators to bring a faithful animated adaptation of the beloved comic books to the small screen and wish for nothing more than it to “take a page out of Invincible’s success.”

The Walking Dead Fans Cry Out for an Animated Show Like Invincible

Over on Reddit, Walking Dead fans have expressed a lot of opinions on where the franchise should go next and are adamant that Robert Kirkman should take its beloved characters down the same road as Invincible‘s animated series. Amazon Prime’s adult animated superhero show is based on the Skybound/Image Comics title of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, so it wouldn’t be such a huge leap for Kirkman if The Walking Dead was developed into the same 2D animation style. However, one aspect that seems to be a sticking point with some fans is that they don’t want the franchise to produce any more live-action “nonsense” that includes green screens, or CGI, desiring the franchise to simply adapt the storylines from Kirkman’s original comics instead of a straight-up reboot.
A faithful animation adaptation would mean that these brilliant moments from the comic would be brought to a wider audience due to the popularity of animated shows of late and even give The Walking Dead the opportunity to rectify any past oversights that had been bothering loyal fans of the comics for years.
The Walking Dead Deluxe #107 will hit shelves on February 19, 2025, and The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 is expected to release in Spring 2025.
