Unbelievable Find: Lost One Direction Footage Unearthed for Liam Payne’s Emotional Grammys In Memoriam Moment!

One Direction fans have reason to believe that the Infinity music video might not fully be out of reach after they spotted a clip from the scrapped project in Liam’s tribute

Liam Payne was honored by the Recording Academy with a special In Memoriam following his Oct. 2024 death.

The One Direction star’s tribute led the procession of musicians lost over the past year, starting fans on a particularly somber note. As Chris Martin began his performance, video clips, including where he was spotted with his bandmates, rolled by. However, one stood out as particularly notable to dedicated Directioners.

In one clip, Liam stood in front of a grafitied wall with a glimmering smile while wearing a brown button-up over a white t-shirt. He pretended to hug the wall in a goofy display. Fans immediately recognized the moment as coming from a shoot for a music video for their song, Infinity. The music video was scrapped and never released, but fans have long since begged for a glimpse.

The special footage release came with a somber note. One Direction’s music video director, Ben Winston, confirmed the origin of the clip by writing on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Infinity felt right.”

Fans were forced to wonder if the rest of the footage was still out there and if they might be able to see the full project one day. Ben previously explained why if never came out, writing: “We never finished it. Label changed course and decided to go with History as the single instead at the time so we didn’t ever do final infinity edit or video.”

“Just realized that in the liam video was part of the material they shot for the infinity mv.. ben winston when i catch you,” wrote a fan after the In Memoriam tribute. Another added: “ben winstom u wanna leak infinity music video sooo bad.”

Fans also realized that the 15th anniversary of the band is coming up, meaning there could be something extra special in the works. “what if for the 15th anniversary, they’ll release the infinity music video as a tribute for liam…” said another Directioner.

“Sooo do we think the infinity music video will be released at the brits?” one fan wondered, referencing a long-running theory that the band will reunite at the Brit Awards for a final tribute to their fallen brother.
