It premiered in October 2010 with the story revolving around a group of survivors attempting to survive a zombie apocalypse. That was after it established a universe filled with the potential for prequels and sequels, and became one of the longest-running shows in both AMC and television history. The series has a total of 177 episodes throughout its tenure.

The final season had 24 episodes but was released in three parts; with episodes 1 to 8 released between August and October 2021 followed by episodes 9 to 16 which were released between February and April 2022. Episodes 17 to 24 were released from October 2022 and concluded in November 2022 with its final episode, “Rest in Peace”.
