The Shocking Reason Agatha All Along Is Not Getting a Second Season—And Why WandaVision Season 2 Was Also Rejected!

The ending opens the door to more adventures with Joe Locke’s Wiccan, so hopefully he can find his way into another series soon.

Patti Lupone In Agatha All Along

Patti LuPone has had a long career on stage and screen, but her recent role in Marvel’s Agatha All Along on Disney+ was one she was keen to revisit. However, those hopes were dashed even before they finished filming season one. Not only was LuPone’s Lilia not going to return for a second season, there wasn’t going to be an Agatha All Along season two at all.

Patti LuPone spoke on the Andy Cohen Live podcast to explain that Agatha All Along season two simply isn’t coming. “There won’t be one,” the Broadway legend bluntly said. “Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season.’”

It wasn’t Disney or Marvel who put an end to our hopes for more Agatha All Along, though. “[Schaffer] said, ‘I don’t do second seasons.’ She said, ‘They wanted me to do a second season of WandaVision and I didn’t.’ She said, ‘There’s too much to write,’ so she does one-offs and I’m really hoping and praying that I get to work with her again because she’s magic.”

With LuPone seemingly putting more Agatha All Along on ice, we’re left wondering how Wiccan’s story will continue. The first season ended with him coming into his powers and searching for his lost brother, so we hope that we get to see that part of his story get resolved. Considering that WandaVision is getting a second spin-off in the Vision series, Joe Locke’s Billy may show up again there… or maybe a spin-off of Agatha All Along simply called Wiccan will be made to show us the next steps in the character’s journey. (Of course, maybe we should just be watching out for the announcement of a Young Avengers movie, given how many of those characters have shown up in the MCU in the last few years…)
