Fans of The Last of Us have been eagerly awaiting news about the next chapter in HBO’s hit adaptation, and now there’s reason to celebrate. After the massive success of Season 1, it’s official: Season 2 is well on its way and set to premiere in 2025. While the cameras have officially stopped rolling for the main shoot, post-production is just beginning. Good and fellow editor Emily Mendez will soon dive into the meticulous process of editing the season’s seven episodes. The next few months will be packed with sound mixing, special effects, and voice dubbing to ensure the series is polished and ready for its global release.
A Few Final Touches Left to Film
While much of the hard work is done, there’s still a little left to finish. Executive producer Jacqueline Lesko confirmed on Instagram that the crew is sticking around to capture some final scenes. According to official documents from the Directors Guild of Canada, production is set to continue through August 21, 2024, focusing on minor sequences and background shots.
But don’t worry—everything’s on track for The Last of Us to make its much-anticipated return next year on Max, just in time to keep us all on the edge of our seats once again.
