Like many classic popular games, fans have poured their time and passion into crafting fun mods for the game, whether to improve the quality of life, better immerse themselves in the world, or have a little fun.

These mods are intended for a PC copy of The Witcher 3. Ensure your PC has the appropriate graphic card, updated drivers, and space to download your mod, as some are quite large. You can either manually install your mods or use a mod manager. Most mods suggest creating an original mod folder to hold all your mods. These mods can be found on Nexusmods and its Witcher 3 mod base.

Track Quests On The Map

Keeping track of all your quests in The Witcher 3 can be challenging. With the sheer amount of main and side quests active at any given moment, you would expect an easy way to track them via the map. However, the original map does not do this. As such, Wolfmark’s mod tries to fix this issue. The mod displays all the quests of the region, color-coordinated based on the player’s level. The mod also displays all merchants rather than just those closest to Geralt.

The mod has three variations: Lite, Standard, and Full. The Full version offers merchant tracking, but it will only start tracking merchants after downloading the mod. Wolfmark suggests downloading the Colored Map Markers mod by DJ_Kovrik to organize the various new merchant and quest markers covering the map better.

Repairing weapons in The Witcher 3 can prove annoying for some players. They’ve spent a long time searching for the perfect silver sword, only for it to degrade to 50% after a few fights. Visiting a blacksmith or armorer can be a hassle you might rather avoid. With SunBroDave’s mod, you can consider this chore a thing of the past.

Indestructible Items—No More Weapon Degradation eliminates the degradation mechanic altogether. Geralt’s weapons and armor stay at 100% durability no matter how many fights they go through. If you use a broken sword or armor after installing the mod, simply use the sword or get hit while wearing the armor, and it will be restored to 100% durability. This simple mod lets you save on gold and enjoy hard-fought items without constant repair fees.

7The Gwent Card Dealer

One Merchant For All Cards

For some players, Gwent games keep them returning to The Witcher 3. This fun strategy game pits two armies against each other as you try to overpower the other side with various combat styles and card perks. Gwent cards are scattered across the world, however, making it hard to build lots of unique decks. MANgamez’s solution was to declare one merchant as the official Gwent card dealer for the whole game.

When you get to Crow’s Perch, speak to the Bloody Baron’s quartermaster. This merchant now sells every non-unique Gwent card in the game. Simply by speaking to this merchant, you can quickly fill your decks with new and exciting cards. You may not be able to purchase every card in one sitting, but as you earn more money, you can keep visiting Crow’s Perch to fill your decks with new recruits.

Please note that the quartermaster does not sell Gwent cards that can only be obtained through special quests.

6No Time For Gwent

Skip Gwent Games

Just as many players love to collect every Gwent card in The Witcher 3 and dominate every opponent they come across, some would rather skip through a round of Gwent and just get the rewards. Even big Gwent fans get sick of fighting random villagers to earn their rewards sometimes. Fluffy82 created a mod to circumvent annoying Gwent challenges and immediately declare Geralt the winner.

No Time For Gwent allows you to use Axii, the mind control ability, to automatically win a game of Gwent. Technically all you are doing is pressing “N” while in a Gwent game to automatically win, but it’s more fun to see it as using Axii. This mod is useful if you want to beat an opponent with a particularly strong deck or if you want to farm the rewards.

5Stack Your Items

A Neater Inventory

After a while, Geralt’s inventory can become cumbersome. While some items can make small stacks with copies of themselves, eventually, you must create a new stack and fill your screen with junk. MerseyRockoff’s solution is to allow similar items to make stacks of up to 999 copies.

This allows you to clean up your inventory and specialize in the best items in the game. If you use a lot of a certain food or alchemical ingredient, you can keep it all with you rather than selling your extra goods.

If you download the mod while you have stacks of 100 (the maximum stack size in the base game), drop or stash the items and put them back in your inventory. The items should make the larger stacks now.

4No Inventory Weight Limit

Carry Everything In Your Inventory

Inventory weight limit may be the greatest challenge in The Witcher 3. It’s frustrating to grab a new sword or item only to find that you need more carrying capacity to keep it on you. While you can increase your weight limit as you play, it always feels like you need more for some players.

With rfuzzo’s mod, Geralt’s weight limit increases to 9000. This incredibly high number makes it feel like there is no weight limit at all. This way, you can always keep the best armor sets in The Witcher 3on you.

This mod pairs well with Stack Your Items, as it makes up for the growing weight of those giant stacks.

3Fast Travel Anywhere

Save Travelling Time

In The Witcher 3, you can only activate fast travel when you are beside a signpost. From there, you can teleport to any other signpost. Still, getting to a signpost can be a hike in some areas if you’re stuck in the monster-infested wilderness. JupiterTheGod programmed a solution with over two million downloads: the ability to fast travel from anywhere.

Now, the mod does require you to pick a signpost to arrive at. This isn’t a problem; signposts are placed at important or useful spots throughout each region. However, with this mod, if you are miles from the nearest signpost, you can still pull up your map, pick a signpost, and teleport back to civilization.

2Autoloot

Pick Up Loot Automatically

There is a lot of loot in The Witcher 3. Whether that loot comes from plants, chests, or other people, Geralt has a lot to take on his adventure. When you loot anything, you have to open up a panel that includes all the items associated with what you’re looking for, like all the items in a chest. JupiterTheGod returns with a mod that streamlines the loot collection and makes the whole experience far more convenient.

With Autoloot, when you go up to a plant or chest and choose to loot it, you will automatically get everything inside the lootable object. This allows you to run through fields collecting plants, quickly scan through chests, and move on quickly. The mod is highly customizable with a variety of filters. These filters tell the game what to auto-loot (and what not to auto-loot in the case of theft; one filter forces theft to be a manual decision).

1The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project

Enhanced Graphics

The most popular mod is The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project by Halk Hogan. Unlike other popular mods, this mod does nothing to make the game more convenient or improve a certain mechanic. Instead, it is a complete overhaul of the game’s graphics. The difference may not be detectable at first glance, but Halk Hogan’s YouTube channel compares the mod’s graphics to The Witcher 3‘s oldest and newest variants for comparison.

With The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project, the world seems more alive and vibrant as you explore it. Papers on bulletin boards look like they are their own objects rather than drawn onto the board. Snow-covered rocks are truly snow-covered, not spray-painted. Even textures like cloth or parchment are more realistic. This HD rework makes Halk Hogan’s mod the greatest mod for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
