What exactly do Taylor Swift, Jeremy Renner, John Krasinski and Channing Tatum all have in common?

They all had guest roles on CSI before they were famous famous, of course!

Swift, now 34, was on the popular drama in 2009 when she was just 19. She was promoting her second album Fearless, and as a mega CSI fan at the time, she was telling journalists that the guest role was a dream come true.

“For about three years I’ve been saying to everyone that my favorite show is CSI,” Swift told Rolling Stone journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis, who was profiling Swift for her very first Rolling Stone cover at the time.

Now Grigoriadis has unearthed her original interview for the latest series of her Infamous podcast, a four-part series about Swift’s meteoric rise to the top of the world.

The interviews include Swift talking about her experience on CSI, where she first played a dead body, and then teenager Haley Jones, whose story viewers learned about in flashbacks.

“The character Nick Stokes [played by George Eads], it’s his crime that he deals with,” Swift said of the episode, in which she played the teen who lived at a seedy motel with her parents. “It was really cool, because he’s my favorite character.”

The episode, titled Turn, Turn Turn, aired on March 5, 2009 and opened up with a scene of a young, brunette Swift lying dead in a parking lot of a motel.

But as the episode progressed, her character reappears as we learn how she ended up a murder victim, as well as witness to another murder that happened at the motel.

“I’m black-haired, have a nose ring, earrings, spikes, combat boots…” Swift told Grigoriadis of her character. “And you end up figuring out that there’s this whole back story, and that my parents had a child that ended up dying and I was the second replacement child. And my mom never really loved me… and there are so many different intricate storylines that come into play.”

Spoiler alert: It turns out that Swift’s character ends up accidentally stabbed through the heart with a pair of scissors by her own mother.

“My [own] mom was a little freaked out,” Swift admitted of her mother Andrea Swift’s reaction to seeing her daughter play a dead body covered in fake blood. “I was open-eye dead, literally had to stare off into nothing and not breathe during the close ups… not flinch or anything.”

Regardless of her TV fate, Swift said she couldn’t get over how exciting it was. “I even got to meet Jerry Bruckheimer and Cuba Gooding Jr.!” she said of the show’s producer and star.

It wasn’t the only time Swift raved about the opportunity.

In a 2009 interview with MTV, she said, “All my friends know that my dream is to die on CSI. I’ve always wanted to be one of the characters on there that they’re trying to figure out what happened to.”
