From tortured poets to dead poets.
“Dead Poets Society” actors Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles made a surprise appearance in the just-released music video for Taylor Swift and Post Malone’s song, “Fortnight.”
“I’m still laughing from getting to work with the coolest guys on earth, Ethan Hawke and Josh Charles (tortured poets, meet your colleagues from down the hall, the dead poets),” Swift wrote on Twitter Friday about the cheeky collaboration.

Hawke and Charles took on the roles of Todd Anderson and Knox Overstreet, respectively, in the 1989 movie.
Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” has drawn comparisons to the 1989 film due to their similar titles and themes.
In the video, Hawke and Charles — along with Malone — play doctors who perform shock therapy on Swift following a “tortured” romance with the rapper.
“Post Malone blew me away on set as our tortured tragic hero and I’m so grateful to him for everything he put into this collaboration,” the pop star gushed about the “Circles” wordsmith.

Swift explained that the video serves “as the backdrop” for her latest compilation of songs.
“Pretty much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it,” she tweeted.
The Grammy winner, 34, first teased the music video with Malone, 28, in series of clips from the video shared on Instagram Thursday.

“At this hearing, I stand before my fellow members of The Tortured Poets Department with a summary of my findings. Album tonight. Fortnight music video tomorrow at 8pm et,” she captioned the montage.
In the black-and-white clip, Swift appeared dressed in a statement black leather dress while sitting at a typewriter and writing phrases like, “I love you” and “Love you.”
The clip then cut to Malone, who was also sitting at a typewriter. He then hugged the “Lover” singer on a dock overlooking the water with his tattoos blurred out.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Swift stunned in a white strapless dress –– similar to her 2024 Grammys look –– while throwing a chair into a glass window.
Just hours before sharing the teaser, the songstress also announced that “Fortnight” would be the first single from her chart-topping album.
“The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring @postmalone 🤍 I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever,” she captioned a photo of the two of them.

The “loml” singer gushed about seeing the “magic come to life” when working with Malone and revealed that the video would be dropping at 8 p.m. ET on Friday.
The entire “TTPD” album –– in addition to a bonus album called “The Anthology” –– was released at midnight on Friday. Fans have already flooded social media to share their theories over her famously cryptic and meaningful lyrics.
In the song “Fortnight” alone, Swift alludes to once having a drinking problem.

“I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me / I was a functioning alcoholic ’til nobody noticed my new aesthetic,” she sings.
The “All Too Well” singer also raised eyebrows when she seemingly addressed her breakups with both Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy on many of the tracks.
Fans think Swift wrote about Alwyn, 33, in the songs “So Long, London,” “loml” and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

She surprised many by seemingly writing even more songs about Healy, 35, with “The Tortured Poets Department,” “Down Bad”, “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus,” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” and “Guilty As Sin?”
The “Valentine’s Day” star also stunned fans when she seemed to take a jab at her longtime nemesis Kim Kardashian in the song “thanK you aIMee” and the reality star’s ex Kanye West with “Cassandra.”
However, Swift focused on a more bright spot in her life when she appeared to sing about her current relationship with Travis Kelce in “The Alchemy” and “So High School.”
