Everyone has an opinion about Taylor Swift—and over the past year, plenty of celebrities have shared what they think of the pop superstar. And one of the most recent celebs to weigh in on the “Cruel Summer” songstress’ cultural impact is Michael J. Fox.
During an interview with People published on April 16, the Back to the Future actor spoke about influential individuals he can see having an even bigger impact in the next 50 years. Fox named Ryan Reynolds and Swift.
“I think she’s going to be a really important person,” the Spin City actor shared. “I think she moves economies, she changes the way the world works, and that’s amazing.”
Starting in 2018, Swift has publicly encouraged her fans to register to vote and help protect their voting rights. She additionally shared her support for Democratic candidates, including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and Tennessee’s Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper. The “Karma” singer has also publicly criticized Donald Trump.
Fox noted during his People interview that his view of Swift has come “full circle,” explaining that he “didn’t have an opinion about Taylor Swift when I first heard of Taylor Swift. Now I have a wife and four kids who worship her.”
However, not everyone is a fan of Swift or her music. Courtney Love recently made a blunt declaration about the “Is It Over Now?” singer.
“Taylor is not important,” Love told the Evening Standard in an interview published on April 12. “She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist.”
Whether celebs love or hate her, it’s difficult to deny Swift’s influence on music, pop culture and even politics.
