“The Voice USA” Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez wants to officially cover the song that ensured his qualification to the competition’s semi-finals.

Vasquez signed with talent label Star Magic for representation in the Philippines, coincidentally putting pen to paper in the “It’s Showtime” studio, where he first gained national attention during a segment of “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

With a management present at his side, Vasquez can shift to releasing his own music alongside performing, but Philstar.com asked him what was one song he’d like to release as an official cover.

The artist shared that people have been clamoring for him to cover Roy Orbison’s “Crying,” which he performed during the playoff rounds of “The Voice.”

His performance of the song ensured his place in the live shows, starting with the semi-finals, where he sang Elvis Presley’s “If I Can Dream” and The Police’s “Every Breath You Take,” the latter with fellow semi-finalist Jeremy Beloate.

Both Vasquez and Beloate qualified for the finals, thanks to the public’s vote, and there the Filipino sang Sia’s “Unstoppable,” “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman,” and “Who’s Lovin’ You” in a duet with coach Michael Buble.

“Marami talagang nangungulit and I have been gatekeeping it. ‘Di ko siya kinakanta sa ibang shows kasi gusto ko pa siya mag-ingay,” Vasquez added.
