‘The Voice USA’ Season 26 grand champion Sofronio Vasquez has finally spoken up about his love life, as well as his growing career opportunities, including an offer to join the UK production of ‘Miss Saigon’.

Fresh from signing an exclusive contract with ABS-CBN and Star Magic, the international singer faced the entertainment press, where he was asked about his romantic status and rumors linking him to his talent handler, Gio Santos.
When questioned about his relationship status, Sofronio opted to keep things private while expressing gratitude for his current happiness.
“Kung ‘yung love life ang pag-uusapan, sobrang blessed na ako kasi I am just happy now,” he said.
He further explained that no matter what he says, people will always speculate.
“Whether sabihin ko sa inyo kung may jowa ako, hindi kayo maniniwala. Sabihin kong wala akong jowa, hindi kayo maniniwala. So, I just want to say na I am happy right now.”
Adding to the intrigue, Sofronio left a vague statement about his romantic life, saying: “Kung sino man ang nagpapasaya sa akin, I am just happy!”
Speculation about Sofronio’s love life escalated when a viral Facebook post featured a photo of him and his handler, Gio Santos, with Gio resting his head on the singer’s shoulder. The post’s caption read: “Sofronio Vasquez Returns to the Philippines for the Show at Solaire North on February 13, 2025…with His Boyfriend by His Side!”
This led to widespread speculation that the two were romantically involved. However, Gio was quick to dismiss the rumors, taking to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify their relationship.
“Handler ako ni Sofronio. Hindi kami mag-jowa.”
Sofronio has yet to directly address the rumors, but his vague response about his happiness suggests that he prefers to keep his personal life away from the spotlight.
Aside from love life rumors, Sofronio shared exciting news about his potential foray into musical theater. He revealed that he has been offered a role in the UK production of ‘Miss Saigon’, a globally acclaimed musical.
“I am so excited to share this with everyone! I was offered a role in Miss Saigon in the UK, but I have to figure it out kasi mukhang masikip na talaga ‘yung dates,” he explained.

He confirmed that he was offered the role of Thuy, a significant character in the musical.
“It’s an Asian, Vietnamese role. I think it’s Thuy. May nag-cast sa akin. Nagbigay na sila ng dates. Technically, parang kakanta na lang ako doon. Sana magawan ng paraan.”
To better understand the opportunity, Sofronio said he consulted Filipino singer-actor Mark Bautista, who has previously performed in West End musicals.
“I’ve already asked one artist na nakapag-try doon, si Mr. Mark Bautista, kung paano doon.”
However, despite his excitement, the singer admitted that his existing commitments with Star Magic and ABS-CBN might complicate his ability to accept the role.
“First time ko ito i-share sa lahat. It’s really true and I am super blessed. Kaso lang, with the line of shows that I have, it’s going to be hectic talaga.”
With a thriving music career, a growing international fanbase, and now an offer from ‘Miss Saigon’, Sofronio Vasquez is proving to be one of the most promising Filipino talents today.
