The Walking Dead may have ended its story in 2022, but that hasn’t dampened the excitement about the series, its spinoffs, and the memorable characters who appeared throughout the eleven seasons. Daryl Dixon – Norman Reedus – 148 episodes

The fact that Daryl has been in the most episodes isn’t that much of a surprise. He quickly became everyone’s favorite red-neck when he first appeared in season 1. He suffered significant losses throughout his story and underwent a drastic transition to becoming a leader among the group.

Reedus reprises the role in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spinoff.

Carol Peletier – Melissa McBride – 124 episodes

McBride has done an extraordinary job in her portrayal of Carol. She was introduced in season 1 and is another character who transformed into a survivor. She took her place as a leader in the communities and has always been the one person to tackle the tough choices and follow through with action.

McBride reprises her role of Carol in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (season 2)

Rick Grimes – Andrew Lincoln – 111 episodes

The series began and ended with Rick Grimes and rightly so. In the pilot episode, viewers followed Rick as he emerged from a coma to a world unlike anything he had ever encountered. Always the family man, Rick’s first thoughts were of his wife and son. Rick’s story ended in the main series in season 9, or he would likely be the character with the most episodes.

Andrew Lincoln reprised his role as Rick in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

Maggie Rhee – Lauren Cohan – 106 episodes

Maggie was introduced in season 2 when Rick’s group moved to the Greene Family Farm. She became the love interest of Glenn and viewers loved watching their apocalyptic love bloom. Maggie ended up being the only surviving member of her family, losing her father and sister and eventually her husband. Luckily she had a son to soften the blow of such tragic loss.

Lauren Cohan reprises her role as Maggie in The Walking Dead: Dead City.

Michonne Grimes – Danai Gurira – 96 episodes

Michonne’s introduction is one of few characters who appeared to have walked directly from the comic pages. Her first appearance was by an unknown stand-in as Gurira had yet to be cast in the role. Throughout her story Michonne was always a level headed warrior with a good heart. Losing Rick in season 9 about broke her but she had her children to keep her grounded. She departed the series in season 10 to search for Rick.

Gurira reprised her role as Michonne in the spinoff The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.
