Ryan Gosling is on board to produce the wonderfully-titled zombie comedy I Used to Eat BrainsNow I Eat Kale. Jessie Henderson, Gosling’s partner in their General Admission production banner, is also on board. Amazon MGM Studios picked up the package and it’ll be part of the company’s new three-year, first-look deal with General Admission.

Zombie Reintegration

Ryan Gosling currently isn’t set to star in the zombie comedy, which was written by Adam and Daniel Cooper as a short story. The two will adapt their own short story into a full script for the film. While the story details are under wraps, it takes place in a “post-post-apocalypse” where zombies are trying to reintegrate with society.

No Word On Gosling Starring

While Ryan Gosling isn’t attached to star in the zombie film right now, it does seem it would be the perfect addition to his recent string of comedic roles. Gosling earned an Oscar nom for his hilarious turn in Barbie as Ken and he recently starred in The Fall Guy as a down-on-his-luck stuntman.

Gosling had already proved his comedic chops before in films like The Nice Guys and Crazy, Stupid, Love but this last couple of years has cemented his status as a comedy leading man.

Project Hail Mary

Ryan Gosling’s zombie movie also doesn’t have a director attached, so there are a few more pieces to the puzzle to fill in still. In the meantime, Gosling is set to start filming for the upcoming Project Hail Mary, which is adapted from the Andy Weir novel of the same name.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are attached to direct, and Drew Goddard adapted the script.

Project Hail Mary follows a schoolteacher-turned-astronaut who is sent on a mission to help save Earth, only to wake up in space alone, in a coma, and no memory of who he is or why he’s there.

While the film won’t be as comedic as Ryan Gosling’s upcoming zombie comedy, it is adapted from a novel by Andy Weir, whose previous novel, The Martian, was adapted into an Oscar-nominated film. The Martian had plenty of funny moments, so Gosling will still presumably get to work out his funny bone on Project Hail Mary.

General Admission

While Project Hail Mary is the only upcoming acting project Ryan Gosling has on his slate, his producing venture and the zombie comedy will presumably be keeping him plenty busy. Gosling and Henderson’s General Admission is set to give Amazon MGM Studios the first look at various features, with Gosling set to star in some of them, and General Admission is planning on producing both theatrical and streaming releases.

It remains to be seen how many films General Admission will have on its slate in the upcoming years, but it seems like the company is off to a strong start.

The Actor

While Ryan Gosling is producing films like this upcoming zombie comedy, he also is on board as an executive producer on the upcoming film The Actor, which he was originally attached to star in. That film will instead star Andre Holland with Gemma Chan, May Calamawy, Toby Jones, Tracey Ullman, Olwen Fouere, Joe Cole, Tanya Reynolds, Asim Chaudhry, Youssef Kerkour, Simon McBurney and Edward Hogg rounding out the ensemble cast. The Actor follows a New York actor who attempts to reclaim his life after losing his memory.
