Prepare for Epic New Characters as The Rings of Power Season 3 Cast Grows!

Morfydd Clark as Galadriel

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power season 2 is adding 8 new cast members to the Prime Video series, which is in the midst of shooting the new season. After being absent from the big screen since Peter Jackson’s original trilogy, J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved Lord of the Rings universe returned in 2022, but this time as a television series on Prime Video. Set in the Second Age of Middle-earth’s mythology, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power became a massive hit for the streaming service. Over 100 million people worldwide have tuned in to the fantasy epic, which will be back for season 2.

As Rings of Power season 2 continues filming in the UK, Prime Video has expanded the cast for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The streamer announced on Wednesday that the Tolkien-based drama is tapping 8 new recurring guest members that will debut in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. Similar to the initial castings for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 1, Prime Video is keeping all the new cast members’ character identities under wraps. The new cast members include Oliver Alvin-Wilson (Wonder Woman 1984, The Huntsman), Stuart Bowman (Alex Rider, Bodyguard), Gavi Singh Chera (The Undeclared War, The Lazarus Project), William Chubb (The Sandman, Vampire Academy), Kevin Eldon (Game of Thrones, Shadow And Bone), Will Keen (My Lady Jane, The Crown), Selina Lo (Boss Level, Hellraiser), and Calam Lynch (Bridgerton, Derry Girls).

What To Expect From Rings Of Power Season 2

Rings of power Halbrand lies told Galadriel

The war against Sauron will be one of the centerpieces of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2. In season 1, the Prime Video-produced series kept Sauron’s true identity under wraps until the season finale when it was revealed that it was none other than Halbrand who was the Dark Lord. Despite attempting to get Galadriel to become his queen, Sauron retreated as he entered Mordor, setting things in motion for his ultimate endgame.

Another huge story arc to expect from The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is the deeper exploration of the Stranger. The Rings of Power season 1 finale revealed that while he wasn’t Sauron, the Stranger was in fact an Istari, better known as a wizard. Whether The Stanger is Gandalf remains to be seen, but that is expected to be a crucial plot point in the new season. With Nori by his side, the duo will travel together to Rhûn to help the Stranger discover more about his powers.

While The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is two months into principal photography, Prime Video has not indicated when the series is expected to return. Showrunner Patrick McKay stated in October that he expected season 2 to take “another couple years” to produce before it debuts on Prime Video. Even though it may take longer than some fans would expect, the wait will certainly be worth it as the stakes are looking bigger and bolder in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2
