Poppy Liu Breaks Free from the Apocalypse to Lead Netflix’s Hilarious New Comedy No Good Deed!
No Good Deed is a new comedy from Netflix premiering in December.

Actress Poppy Liu is well known for her roles in Hacks, The Afterparty, and Dead Ringers. She also starred in one episode of Tales of the Walking Dead. Next fans can see Liu in the Netflix original series No Good Deed.
The black comedy follows three families in competition to purchase a “dream house” in Los Angeles. Believing the 1920s Spanish-style home will solve all their problems, the prospective purchasers have no idea the nightmare they could encounter. This is something the current owners have already discovered.
No Good Deed was created by Liz Feldman, who is also known for Dead to Me. According to Netflix, Feldman came up with the idea for the new series while finishing the final season of Dead to Me, which stars Linda Cardellini. Feldman imagined Cardellini in the role of Margo as the actress longed to portray a character opposite of the role she had as Judy in Dead to Me.
The latest trailer (below) reveals more of what you can expect from this series, which also stars Emmy Award-winning Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow, with Cardellini, Luke Wilson, Teyonah Parris, Abbi Jacobson, Denis Leary, and O-T Fagbenie.
Dead to Me will premiere on Netflix on Dec. 12, 2024.
The series consists of eight half-hour episodes and is set in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz, of which Feldman describes: “It’s picturesque in both good and dark ways.”
Kudrow and Romano play The Morgans, empty nesters and sellers of the home who find themselves in the middle of a chaotic situation while trying to sell their long-time residence. They try to hide the dark secrets the house holds but may have to face the past to escape them.

The series is full of colorful characters including Liu’s Sarah, wife of Leslie (Jacobson), who is the moral compass in the relationship, who has her own secrets. The couple are ecstatic to learn the house they long admired and finally come on the market.
Some of Liu’s recent roles include the comedy Space Cadet with Emma Roberts, which streams on Prime Video, the comedy Hacks, which streams on Max, and Apple TV’s The After Party.

If you have yet to watch Liu alongside Anthony Edwards in The Walking Dead spinoff, Tales of the Walking Dead, you are missing out. The series is an apocalyptic anthology spinoff in which each episode features new characters in the same world as TWD. Liu and Edwards star in the fourth episode, “Amy/Dr. Everett,” in a story set in what is known as the Dead Sector. Edwards plays a naturalist who studies the undead in the Dead Sector and encounters a spirited settler, Amy, played by Liu. The entire series can be viewed via AMC+.
