Netflix Erased This Witcher Moment – Now Sirens of the Deep Brings It Back!

Geralt of Rivia in Sirens of the Deep

Geralt of Rivia will return in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, where Doug Cockle is coming back to voice the protagonist as he did in the video games. The anime series distributed by Netflix is set to arrive on screens on February 11, 2025. That’s close but we got an interesting update to the film.

Mike Ostrowski, who has given the film’s screenplay alongside Rae Benjamin, said that it will feature something that was supposed to be a part of The Witcher‘s Season 1. After three seasons, Henry Cavill won’t be continuing the role, with Liam Hemsworth picking up that sword.

Yennefer is still on Geralt’s mind in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

In a recent issue of SFX magazine, Mike Ostrowski gave a hint and explained these times as sort of troubling to Geralt of Rivia, as GamesRadar+ reports. He said that this is,

“A period of not being together, or a period of trouble, but still on each other’s minds.”

He is talking about Yennefer and Geralt here. Although The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep advances without mingling with the series’ timeline, there is one easter egg that fans might like. Rae Benjamin, the other writer, calls it a “fun little scene.”

Ostrowski also adds that,

“Geralt cannot let Yennefer go, even though he’s trying his best. She haunts him. Even if he wanted to be rid of her, he can’t.”

This appears to be Henry Cavill’s The Witcher version of ‘You won’t let me live, you won’t let me die.’ Sadly, there’s no Cavill in it. All we know about the timeline is that events in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will take place between episodes five and six of season one.

Season five is where Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg cross paths for the first time. He and Jaskier, who befriends Geralt in the series, free up a Djinn from the bottle that causes Jaskier to fall ill. This leads to Geralt finding someone who can cure Jaskier and the path eventually leads to Yennefer.

It is revealed that Djinn’s master is Geralt and he uses a wish to save Yennefer, given that the genie is a threat to Yennefer for some reason. We never got to know what Geralt’s wish was, so we may get this answer in the upcoming film.

Other than Cockle, Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra will join as the voices of Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg in The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.
