HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ was full of sudden deaths for its many characters, which isn’t always easy for the actors involved. Such is the case of Margaery Tyrell and Natalie Dormer.

‘Game of Thrones’ made history on television for multiple reasons, one of them being its rawness and the feeling that no character was safe from death. One of the actresses who participated in the HBO production has now spoken about how frustrating she found the end of her character. Speaking with Collider, actress Natalie Dormer did not hesitate to give her opinion on the death of the character she played in the popular HBO series.

Dormer said how she “was frustrated that she went that way, but then she was frustrated in the scene. And I was once told by a much older actor, ‘Don’t get confused. If you’re feeling something, always check yourself that it’s not just that your character is feeling it, and, via osmosis, it’s seeping into you.’ Because if you play something, your body doesn’t know any different, and if you’re playing something repetitively, as you obviously have to do on a shoot, sometimes that emotion can seep into you.”

The resounding end of a great character in ‘Game of Thrones’

Natalie Dormer continued to talk about what happened, confessing that in her opinion Margaery deserved better. “I wanted more for her, but she’s so frustrated in that moment with the Sparrow, with Jonathan [Pryce], and so that’s part of it. That’s how you know you’re doing it right because you’re like, ‘I just need someone to listen to me a little bit more.’ She was vindicated in the end. It’s just a couple of sentences, but it’s all that needed to be said. She was vindicated, and I felt like I could let her go in that moment because I was like, ‘”She said it, man.’”

Margaery Tyrell’s situation is different in the books, where she is still alive although in a complicated situation and awaiting judgment. Her ending in the series is very sudden, and we do not know what will happen to her in the novels, but Natalie Dormer’s role was one of the most prominent in the popular television series and her ending was as forceful as it was unforgettable.
