Walking Dead fans are always on the lookout for more movies and shows within the undead genre. There are a vast number of titles to choose from, and this 15-year-old zombie remake is a must-watch.

The 2010 Timothy Olyphant-led zombie horror, The Crazies, is a remake of zombie legend George A. Romero’s 1973 film. Directed by Breck Eisner, who is known for Sahara and The Last Witch Hunter, the remake featured Romero, who wrote and directed the original, as an executive producer.

The story is set in the fictional town of Ogden Marsh, Iowa, whose residents are turned into violent killers by a biological agent, Trixie. The Crazies zombies are quite different from the traditional members of the undead, giving this movie an edge as it doesn’t just redo what’s been done before.

Olyphant plays Sheriff Dutton, who, along with his wife Judy (Radha Mitchell) and two companions, fight for survival when the government blockades the town and uses deadly force to ensure no one leaves or enters. The film also stars Joe Anderson, Danielle Panabaker, Christie Lynn Smith, Preston Bailey, Glenn Morshower, and more.

Romero’s original, starring Lane Carroll, Will McMillan, and Harold Wayne Jones, was considered a box office failure. But Romero’s legend within the zombie world has since elevated the 1973 film to a cult classic. The remake received mixed reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes calling it “tense, nicely shot, and uncommonly intelligent.”
