While fans of The Walking Dead awaited the premiere of the final segment of Walking Dead episodes, AMC released the third spinoff of the main series. Tales of the Walking Dead is a six-part episodic anthology which featured new characters in new stories set across the United States. One of the exciting elements of this series is that many incredible actors appeared in the series.

Veteran writer of TWD, Channing Powell served as showrunner, co-created the series with TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple. Michael Satrazemis, director of TWD and Fear TWD, directed three episodes with Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier and Ron Underwood directing the remaining three.

The series ranks 74% on Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus reads: “While these Tales of the Walking Dead are shaggy dog stories of varying quality, there’s still enough meat on the bone to justify this expansion of the long-running zombie saga.”

Each episode featured a new cast of characters in various times after the outbreak in different locations around the United States. One episode was a time loop episode, another set 30 years after the outbreak and one which gave information regarding the back story of Alpha (Samantha Morton), the leader of the Whisperers.

101 – “Evie/Joe”

This episode is a road trip story of a reclusive prepper who seeks to find a female prepper who was formerly acquainted with. He teams with a woman, who is the polar opposite of him, looking for her ex-husband. They end up helping one another but things don’t turn out as they hoped.

The first episode featured Terry Crews as Joe, Olivia Munn as Evie, and Kersti Bryan as Sandra. Crews is well known for many notable roles, including Brooklyn Nine-Nine and White Chicks. Munn has starred in Newsroom and X-Men Apocalypse, and Bryan in Hustlers and Ray Donavan.

102- “Blair/Gina” – August 21, 2022

This episode is similar to Ground Hog Day, starring Bill Murray, where Blair and Gina are set in a buddy-comedy where they relieve the first day of the out break over and over.

The second episode features Parker Posey as Blair Crawford, Jillian Bell as Gina, Kevin L. Johnson as Joel, and Matt Medrano as Brian. Posey is a long-time actress known for numerous roles, including Scream 3, The Staircase, and Dazed and Confused. Bell is remembered for her roles in Brittany Runs a Marathon and 22 Jump Street. Johnson has appeared in Ozark and Stranger Things, and Medrano in Yellowstone and Good Sam.

103- “Dee” – August 28, 2022

“Dee” gives more insight to TWD character known as Alpha. Fans thought they knew everything about Alpha from the flashback scenes in the main series, but Tales of TWD opens a new chapter revealing more about the her inclusion in the Whisperers.

This episode features Samantha Morton as Alpha, Lauren Glazier as Brooke, Scarlett Blum as Lydia, Rachael Markarian as Jenna, Nick Basta as Billy, and Eric Tiede as Nolan. Morton, who reprises her role as Alpha in this episode, is known for her roles in The Serpent Queen, Harlots, Minority Report, and Max & Ruby. Glazier has appeared in Mindhunter and Gone Girl, Blum in The Outsider, and Markarian in Top Gun: Maverick and True Blood. Basta has appeared in Harriet and Florida Man and Tiede is known for Modern Family and Grimm.

104- “Amy/Dr. Everett” – September 4, 2022

Set in the Dead Sector, Dr. Everett, a naturalist was tasked with documenting and studying the walkers. The area he studied was inhabited by only himself and the undead until one day a spirited settler, Amy, who has made her way into the sector.

This episode features Anthony Edwards as Dr. Chauncey Everett and Poppy Liu as Amy. Edwards is well known for many roles throughout his long-running career, most especially Top Gun, ER, and Revenge of the Nerds. Liu has starred in Sunnyside, Hacks, and more.

105- “Davon” – September 11, 2022

This episode is a fractured memory thriller that finds a man who awakens in a dangerous town with no memory. The townspeople have accused him of murder and he slowly pieces together fragments of his memories to find out why.

Jessie T. Usher as Davon, Loan Chabanol as Nora, Gage Munroe as Arnaud, and Embeth Davidtz as Amanda star in this noir-ish episode. Usher is best known for his roles in The Boys, Independence Day: Resurgence, and Smile. Chabanol is known for Fading Gigolo, Third Person, and The Transporter Refueled, and Munroe for his roles in I Declare War and Hotel Transylvania: The Series. Davidtz has starred in Army of Darkness, Schindler’s List, and Ray Donovan.

106- “La Doña”

An apocalypse-traumatized couple seek shelter in a house haunted by the supernatural as well as their frightening memories which wreck havoc on their relationship and their minds.

This haunting tale stars Daniella Pineda as Idalia, Danny Ramirez as Eric, Julie Carmen as Alma, and Iris Almario as Maria. Pineda is known for Cowboy Bebop, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Ramirez for his roles in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Top Gun: Maverick. Carmen has starred in In the Mouth of Madness and Gloria and Almario has appeared in 47 and Flipped.
