Kate‘s recovery from cancer was among the top stories of 2024

Kate Middleton, better known as the Princess of Wales, has a wide range of responsibilities that she agreed to take on when she married in to the British royal family. However, an enforced pause because of a cancer diagnosis last year prompted tension and anxiety in the United Kingdom, especially as Kate‘s father-in-law, King Charles III, was battling his own form of cancer.
But, thanks to aggressive treatment and the support of her husband William, the Prince of Wales, Kate’s cancer has gone into remission. Recent weeks have seen Kate re-emerge as the most beloved member of the British ruling family, and she is following in the footsteps of another much-beloved princess with her latest royal visit.
Kate’s visit to Wales inspires awe
Kate on Thursday made the trek to Wales, where she visited the T Hafan children’s hospice, located in Sully, South Wales. The hospice specializes in caring for Welsh children facing terminal conditions, and Kate’s visit was an uplifting moment around the facility.
It has since been revealed that Kate will become the official patron of T Hafan — just as Princess Diana was, before her untimely death in 1997. Kate’s visit allowed her to spend substantial time with the affected children, with whom she played throughout the morning and the afternoon before taking out time to speak with families.
The occasion was a special one for Kate given her health scare that dominated headlines in 2024, and she took the opportunity to provide comfort and memories for these affected kids.
“As our Patron, Her Royal Highness will be an inspiration for children with life-shortening conditions and their families, our dedicated staff and volunteers and everyone who so generously supports us,” T Hafan chief executive Irfon Rees said.
