About Jisoo’s debut series Snowdrop and how is it different from Newtopia

Set in 1987 when South Korea was still under dictatorship, Snowdrop is the story of a graduate student Lim Soo-ho (Jung Hae-in) who breaks into the female dormitory covered in blood. There, he meets Eun Yeong-ro (Jisoo) and they develop romantic feelings for each other. The show had faced major backlash for ‘distorting history’ but went on to perform well among international viewers.

Although the romance angle remains in both Snowdrop and Newtopia, the latter is more of an individual discovery before finding the way back to one another in the middle of surviving moment-to-moment.
