Before The Boys season 4 debuted, a potential Jared Padalecki cameo in The Boys was teased by showrunner Eric Kripke. The Supernatural creator revealed he had been texting with Padalecki in hopes of a reunion on the Prime Video series. Since then, the excitement around Padalecki possibly making an appearance has only grown. While no plans have officially been confirmed yet, the actor recently spoke about his interest in being on the show.
At Entertainment Events’ Purgatory convention in May, Padalecki echoed that he and Kripke have been in contact about The Boys season 5, especially after the surprising announcement that Padalecki’s hit show Walker was canceled by The CW. According to fans who attended a panel at the convention, Padalecki added that if he did appear on The Boys, he would want to be a supe and likes the idea of portraying a bad guy. Most of Padalecki’s time on the small screen has been as complicated heroes, but he has already proven he knows how to play a great villain.
Jared Padalecki’s Previous Villain Roles Prove He’s Ready To Take On The Boys
The actor has experience playing different types of antagonists thanks to Supernatural
Padalecki is best known for portraying the heroic hunter Sam Winchester for 15 seasons on Supernatural. During that time, he had the opportunity to play numerous smaller roles in the long-running series. Many of those parts included villains who are still memorable characters to this day due to Padalecki’s versatility as an actor. The antagonists he played — including Lucifer, Soulless Sam, possessed by the demon Meg, a homicidal angel, and more — were distinct and showcased Padalecki’s compelling screen presence. No matter the role, audiences could look forward to an engaging performance.
Who Jared Padalecki Could Play In The Boys
Padalecki could reunite with Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles
Readers of the comics would likely enjoy seeing another character from the source material come to life on-screen and played by Padalecki. A couple of names in particular have been included in the speculative conversation, such as Malchemical, considered one of the most evil characters in The Boys’ comics. Another, of course, is Soldier Boy II, a.k.a. the modern version of Vought’s WWII supe brought to life in the series adaptation by Padalecki’s Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles. Many viewers would love to see the two stars in a new project together, whether playing enemies or allies.
The Boys would benefit from having him portray a dark, intelligent villain who could shake things up even more in the final season.
The Boys’ creator seems on board with reuniting the Winchester brothers. When Kripke gave an update on Jared Padalecki’s The Boys season 5 cameo, a suggestion was made about having Padalecki’s character be related somehow to Soldier Boy. Kripke laughed and said, “Yeah, I like that!” An original character could also be in the cards if Padalecki is able to join season 5 in either an episode guest-starring role or a larger part. Whatever the case, The Boys would benefit from having him portray a dark, intelligent villain who could shake things up even more in the final season.
