Agatha All Along is the latest release in the MCU. The show was different from anything Marvel has done before, as it focused on the magical and occult side of the universe, using lesser-known characters.
Despite some fans expecting review-bombing and boycotts due to the show’s DEI focus, this didn’t happen. The show proved that what really matters is the quality of the story, not all the outside noise.
Agatha All Along ended with strong reviews, good viewership, and was the cheapest Marvel production so far, mainly using practical sets and effects. This positive reception boosts its potential for the future.
The show also had the highest viewer retention rate of all MCU shows.
Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, recently spoke with the Phase Hero podcast team about the current atmosphere at Marvel Studios. He mentioned Agatha All Along as a key part of that atmosphere and confirmed that the show was a success.
You know ‘Agatha’ was a huge hit for us. That was I think a real achievement for the studio. First of all, Jac Schaeffer is an absolute genius, we get to walk around her imagination, and I remember getting those scripts and feeling like the audience what the audience felt when the episodes were coming out.
I would ask Jac “what happens next?” “is she really dead?” “where is this going?” And she was like “just wait, you’ll see in the next episode.” And I’d have to wait three weeks, you guys only had to wait for a week.
Winderbaum also talked about how the studio is submitting the show for the “comedy” category instead of the “limited series” category for awards season. Because of this, many fans believe there’s a chance Agatha All Along could get a second season.
All I can say is that everyone over here is as excited as you are to tell more stories about witchiness in the MCU.
This is a very positive update and suggests that more is in the works. Wiccan, who was introduced in the series, is rumored to get his own show. There’s also the potential return of Scarlet Witch to the MCU, so there’s plenty to be excited about if you’re a fan of this magical side of the MCU!
