AMC’s The Walking Dead has some of the most interesting characters in TV history. Whether they were fighting through huge zombie hordes, surviving other dangerous groups, or mourning the deaths of one of their own, the show’s characters proved time after time that a narrative with heart and soul is what post-apocalyptic loving viewers enjoyed the most and also what kept them hooked on the series for 12 years.
Throughout The Walking Dead‘s 11 seasons, many of its characters stood the test of time, like Carol, Eugene, Father Gabriel, and Maggie, but only a handful got their own spin-offs when the series ended in November 2022. While Daryl was later seen in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, with Carol reprising her role in the show’s last episode of season 1, Maggie and Negan came face to face once more in The Walking Dead: Dead City. One of the show’s most beloved couples, Rick and Michonne, were finally reunited in The Ones Who Live spinoff show, which saw them both rekindle their love for each other in a zombie-infested landscape. And even though the series was meant to be limited to one season, fans might just get to see more of the ass-kicking duo in the future.
The Walking Dead Producer Hints at a Possible Season 2 of The Ones Who Live

In an interview with The Direct that took place on the red carpet at Multicon, Scott Gimple, who served as showrunner on The Walking Dead spinoff, The Ones Who Live, hinted at Rick and Michonne’s role in a possible season 2. Gimple did say that he had intended the show to be a limited series with no intention of coming back with another season, but the producer has seemingly had a change of heart in the meantime. Gimple said that Walking Dead viewers who want nothing more than to see the beloved couple again might see Rick and Michonne make their way back to at some point in the future and is considering leaving the door open for that to happen.
“I mean, the plan was to keep it limited. Not necessarily never to see those characters again, but to keep it limited. But I always say, you never know.” “There’s so many… I’ve been very careful to not say, ‘Oh, that’ll never happen,’ because it does. So you know, there are possibilities. And there’s possibilities of all sorts of strange iterations of shows with those characters and with other characters. So you know, I think it’s entirely possible.

However, in the meantime, fans can rewatch Rick and Michonne’s adventures on The Walking Dead in its entirety as it’s currently streaming on Netflix. Season two of The Walking Dead: Dead City is airing on May 4, 2025, with Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon premiering in the fall of 2025 on AMC and AMC+
