Is Taylor Swift Giving Singapore Too Much Love? Surprise Mashups Elevate Tour Opener, Leaving Fans Questioning Favoritism

Swift previously performed a duet medley of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” with Sabrina Carpenter in Sydney

Taylor Swift dazzled audiences with another set of special mashup songs this weekend.

On Saturday, the “Mastermind” singer, 34, debuted her Eras Tour in Singapore, where she performed two surprise mashups of her hits from different albums at the Singapore National Stadium in Kallang.

As part of her acoustic set during her show, Swift played a mix of “Mine” from her Speak Now album and “Starlight” from her Red album, as seen in a video posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In another clip posted on X, she incorporated a sultrier mix, performing a rendition of “I Don’t Want to Live Forever” from the Fifty Shades Darker, which she originally sang with Zayn Malik, with “Dress” from her Reputation album.

Swift has been playing more mashup songs as her tour continues. While playing in Sydney, she played a mix of her 2017 single, “New Year’s Day” and 2020 song “’Peace” and “Should’ve Said No” and 2008 hit “You’re Not Sorry.” She even sang a duet medley of “White Horse” and “Coney Island” with Sabrina Carpenter, after the latter singer’s opening performance was canceled due to bad weather.

Amid the tour, Swift is also preparing to release her 11th studio album (not including the Taylor’s Version releases) dubbedThe Tortured Poets Society. She announced that she would be releasing two versions — “The Albatross” in Sydney and “The Bolter” in Melbourne — with each newly named song appearing as a bonus track on their respective editions.

Before heading to Singapore, Swift concluded her fourth and final Eras Tour show in Sydney on Monday.

“Well I am absolutely delighted to say these words to you. Sydney: welcome to the Eras Tour! This is our final night of four. And we have had the most wonderful time, I’ve got to tell you that,” Swift said from the stage. “You are here in one of the most exciting cities in the world, and you chose to hang out with us. Thanks guys!”

The “Anti-hero” singer also revealed the importance of the tour stop to her family, “My mom actually spent a lot of her childhood with her mom and dad and sister growing up in Singapore,” Taylor said in a fan-shot video posted on X (formerly Twitter) about her mother, Andrea Swift.

“So a lot of the time when we’d come here on tour, my mom would take me and drive me past her old house, where she used to go to school. So I’ve been hearing about Singapore my whole life,” the musician added.

She will play five more shows in Singapore throughout the next week.
