Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television and Animation Brad Winderbaum confirmed in 2024 that the Nova series is in development with Richard Rider as the main protagonist. According to the latest rumor posted by industry scooper @MyTimeToShineHello on X (formerly Twitter), Henry Cavill is being considered for a role in the upcoming Marvel series Nova.

The post reads, “Henry Cavill is being eyed for a role in the NOVA show.” MTTSH did not mention Richard Rider as the one he is being eyed for and further asked users to comment on the role they would like to see Cavill play in the series. Despite the scooper claiming that Cavill might be cast in the Nova series, there is no official confirmation from Marvel Studios on the rumor.

Cavill previously made his Marvel debut in a cameo appearance in the 2024 blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine as a Wolverine variant, The Cavillrine. Since then, fans have been eagerly looking forward to the actor joining the MCU.

The Witcher star isn’t the only one who has been swirled in rumors to star in the Nova series. DC’s Blue Beetle actor Xolo Maridueña opened up about his interest in playing Sam Alexander during an interaction with ComicBook.com back in 2022. “If that Nova project gets made soon, I’d love to see if there is a Sam Alexander Nova, I would love that. Getting more people in the door. We’ll see what they do,” he said.
