Taylor Swift helped out her friend Sophie Turner as she was going through her divorce with singer Joe Jonas.
Taylor Swift showed how she is a true friend to Sophie Turner as she was going through her divorce with Joe Jonas. Turner opened up about her married life with the Jonas Brothers singer and how friends like Swift stepped in when she needed her the most in her British Vogue cover story published Wednesday (May 15).
“Taylor was an absolute hero to me this year,” Turner told the publication amid her divorce from Jonas. “I’ve never been more grateful to anyone than I am for her because she took my children and me and provided us with a home and a safe space.”
“She really has a heart of gold,” she added.
Jonas and Swift have some history of their own. The two briefly dated in 2008 – for three months to be exact – before “Find You” singer broke things off with Swift. The “So High School” hitmaker later revealed that Jonas broke things off via a 27-second phone call on The Ellen Show. Swift wrote about their short-lived romance on “Forever & Always” from her 2008 Grammy-winning album Fearless.
Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas Announce Divorce
Turner and Jonas share two daughters Willa born in 2020 and Delphine in 2022. Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023 and they announced their split publicly in a joint Instagram post on their respective accounts.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they shared on social media. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Elsewhere in the profile, she shot down rumors that she preferred to party rather than raise her two daughters with the singer.
“I mean, those were the worst few days of my life,” the actress recalled, “I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out.”
“It hurt because I really do completely torture myself over every move I make as a mother—mum guilt is so real!” the 28-year-old added. “I just kept having to say to myself, ‘None of this is true. You are a good mum and you’ve never been a partier.’”
Turner was photographed hanging out with Swift, Blake Lively, and Brittany Mahomes who is the wife of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes who is teammates with The Tortured Poets Department creator’s boyfriend Travis Kelce. A source told People shortly after the divorce announcement that Swift has been supportive of the actress.
“Sophie is doing OK. She is happy to be back with her girls,” an insider told the outlet at the time. “Working in Europe was very hard for her. She missed her girls.”
“Taylor has opened her home to Sophie,” the source continued. “Sophie is welcome there any time. Taylor continues to be a great friend.”
