This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

A frequent MCU collaborator has released a short but impressive breakdown video detailing how the VFX used to create the most magical scenes in Agatha All Along came together. At just $40 million, Agatha All Along boasts the lowest budget of any MCU series on Disney+, yet its visuals are largely to thank for its overall success as one of the best-received MCU shows. Mind-bending magical sequences are unsurprisingly quite rife throughout the show, proving that Marvel Studios doesn’t need to break the bank to bring some of its best ideas to life.

The VFX studio responsible for much of this magic, Digital Domain, has revealed a snippet of how this was achieved in Agatha All Along via YouTube. The video depicts how scenes such as Agatha and her coven using their magic, the coven flying on broomsticks, and even the entirety of Westview were created using digital VFX layered onto practical sets. Though it’s only a few minutes long, it’s an enlightening showcase of the work carried out by VFX studios like Digital Domain. The video can be viewed below.

What Agatha All Along’s VFX Breakdown Means For The MCU Show

Agatha All Along‘s frugal budget belies what was seen on-screen. It now boasts some of the MCU’s most memorable visuals, including Agatha’s black-and-white form against a full-color backdrop, the Salem Seven, the coven’s flight before a giant blood moon, and Lilia Calderu’s epic gravity-reversing sacrifice. As the video above shows, Digital Domain’s expertise is largely to thank for these spine-tingling effects – but it is also worth noting how much the subjects behind the VFX elevated Agatha All Along.

Digital Domain has worked on multiple large MCU projects including Spider-Man: Homecoming , Thor: Ragnarok , and Avengers: Endgame.

The VFX breakdown shows, for example, how the twisted trees of the Witches’ Road were physically built as part of a practical set. The now iconic costume designs and makeup have also sparked calls for Emmy Award nominations, while the acting of Agatha All Along‘s main cast also deserves immense praise. Taken together, Agatha All Along has many individuals to thank for its overall quality – including all those involved with Digital Domain and its mesmerizing contributions.

Our Take On Agatha All Along’s VFX Breakdown

With all that being said, it is hard to understate the sheer quality of the veneer that Digital Domain provided to Agatha All Along. While a lack of CGI-rendered characters and set pieces might have softened the financial blow, there was seemingly no expense spared in ensuring the magic came to life – and the results are something that holds up even to the likes of the MCU’s highest-budget movies. It’s always interesting to see how this was achieved, and I’m glad Digital Domain contributes to the candid way in which Marvel Studios clues us in on the behind-the-scenes processes.
