One of the cast members was in Game of Thrones
The first two episodes of the long awaited Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power finally dropped on Amazon Prime on 2nd September, with over 25 million people watching it on the first day.
The eight part series is based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and follows 23 series regulars in their journeys in Middle Earth, and is set long before The Hobbit.
The Rings of Power cast features an impressive list of names as well as some newcomers who are definitely holding their own. However, because of all the makeup, costumes and prosthetics the cast members are not instantly recognisable as the celebrities we know them to be.
And so, this is where you know the cast of The Rings of Power from:
Galadriel – Morfydd Clark
The first cast member in The Rings of Power we’re introduced to is Galadriel the elf. Galadriel is played by 33-year-old Morfydd Clark and she has been acting for nearly 10 years with her first role in the TV series New Worlds in 2014.
Since then she has appeared in His Dark Materials, Dracula, Saint Maud and The Personal History of David Copperfield alongside Dev Patel.
Elrond – Robert Aramayo
29-year-old Robert Aramayo takes on the role of the elf Elrond, who we have previously seen in the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit.
Robert has been acting since 2015 with one of his first roles being a young Ned Stark in the final two seasons of Game of Thrones. He’s also been in an episode of Mindhunter and the Netflix series Behind Her Eyes amongst many others.
Prince Durin IV – Owain Arthur
39-year-old Owain Arthur takes on the role of dwarven Prince Durin IV who is close friends with Elrond. Owain has been acting since 2007 and has starred in many Welsh dramas.
Owain appeared in Casualty on and off for 10 years and has appeared in the TV series The Palace and Babylon.
Princess Disa – Sophia Nomvete
Princess Disa is the wife of Prince Durin and she is played by Sophie Nomvete who is most well known for her appearance on the CBeebies show Swashbuckle.
Bronywn – Nazanin Boniadi
Bronwyn is a human, healer and single mother who has strong feelings for the elf Arondir, she is played by 42-year-old Nazanin Boniadi.
Nazanin is most well known for her roles in Homeland, Counterpart, General Hospital, Scandal and How I Met Your Mother where she played Nora, Barney’s girlfriend.
Arondir – Ismael Cruz Córdova
Arondir is an elf tasked with watching over the Southlands and he’s played by 35-year-old Ismael Cruz Córdova.
Ismael has been acting since 2003 and he has appeared in episodes of The Good Wife, Sesame Street, Ray Donovan and The Mandalorian. He’s also appeared in the film Mary Queen of Scots alongside Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan.
Lord Celebrimbor – Charles Edwards
Lord Celebrimbor is an elven smith played by 52-year-old Charles Edwards. Charles has been acting since the late 90s and he’s perhaps best known for his roles as Michael Gregson in Downton Abbey.
Charles has also had key roles in the series The Crown, The Haylcon, The Girlfriend Experience and Trying Again. He’s also appeared in the movies The Duke and The Witches, as well as often working on stage, in productions such as The 39 Steps, and many Shakespeare plays.
Sadoc Burrows – Lenny Henry
64-year-old comedian and actor Lenny Henry takes on the role of Sadoc Burrows, a harfoot. Lenny has become a household name in the UK as the co-founder of Comic Relief and he has been acting since the 1970s.
He’s appeared in Doctor Who, Broadchurch, and Harry Potter amongst many other roles. Lenny has had his own TV called The Lenny Henry Show and has performed in many Shakespeare productions on stage.
Nori Brandyfoot – Markella Kavenagh
Nori is a harfoot who discovers The Stranger and she is played by 22-year-old Australian Markella Kavenaugh.
Markella has appeared in a few projects in Australia including The Picnic at Hanging Rock alongside Natalie Dormer.
Halbrand – Charlie Vickers
Charlie Vickers takes on the role of human Halbrand in The Rings of Power. The series is only his third acting credit, with his first performance ever being in the series Medici alongside Daniel Sharman.
High King Gil-galad – Benjamin Walker
High King Gil-galad is the ruler of the elves and he’s played by 40-year-old Benjamin Walker.
Benjamin has been acting since 2004 and is best known for his roles in the series Jessica Jones, and Traitors.
He’s also appeared in the movies Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The Choice and In The Heart of The Sea.
The Stranger – Daniel Weyman
The Stranger is a character whose identity we have not yet discovered but he is played by 45-year-old Daniel Weyman.
Daniel has been acting since 2003 but is perhaps best known for his roles in TV dramas Silent Witness, A Very English Scandal and Gentleman Jack.
