Actress Laurie Holden was introduced as Andrea in The Walking Dead in the first season of the series. She was part of the original Atlanta group who had a much stronger storyline in the comic. Holden has starred in numerous notable titles during her career.

She began acting at an early age when she visited her stepfather, Michael Anderson, who was directing The Martian Chronicles. Laurie filled in when the child actress hired to play the role of Rock Hudson’s daughter never came to the set.

Some of Holden’s earliest roles include Physical Evidence (1989) with Burt Reynolds, Young Catherine (1991) with Vanessa Redgrave, and TekWar: TekLab (1994) with William Shatner.

Before her role in The Walking Dead, Holden starred in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist, which was written and directed by Walking Dead original showrunner Frank Darabont. The movie features several actors from the series, including Melissa McBride, Jeffrey DeMunn, and Juan Gabriel Pareja.

Here is an interesting bit of trivia regarding Holden’s role as Andrea. She initially auditioned for the role of Lori Grimes by Darabont. She wore a dark wig and everything but was then offered the role of Andrea. Sarah Wayne Callies was cast as Lori, and both characters suffered horrific deaths.

She is well known for her role as Marita Covarrubias in seasons 4-7 and 9 of The X-Files. She played Renee in seasons 5 and 6 of the period spy drama The Americans and Agent Olivia Murray in season 7 of The Shield.

She starred in the IFC horror Pyewacket directed by Adam MacDonald, in 2018. She portrayed Mrs. Reyes, mother of a daughter who after the death of her father turns to the dark arts to gain closure. The film has an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes and streams on AMC+, Shudder, and Roku.

Holden has lent her voice talents in two animated titles including Fireheart, Arctic Dogs, and in the video game The X Files: Resist or Serve.

In 2022, Holden played the role of Crimson Countess in season 3 of Eric Kripke’s The Boys and appeared in Vought News Network: Seven on & with Cameron Coleman.
