Sons of Anarchy actor Kim Coates has been announced for the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, which will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in Spring 2025. The series is a direct spinoff of The Walking Dead, and Coates has been cast as Bruegel, a fierce group’s brilliant and manipulative leader. But first, fans can see Coates in a new series, American Primeval.
American Primeval was created for Netflix by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant) and directed by Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights). Berg, Smith, and Eric Newman are the movie’s executive producers, which was filmed in New Mexico.

Taylor Kitsch leads the cast which also includes Saura Lightfoot-Leon , Jai Courtney , Shea Whigham , Betty Gilpin , Dane DeHaan, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, and Coates as Brigham Young, second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The six-part series, set in 1857, follows the adventurous exploration of the American West and the fight to gain control of those lands. The series is described as a fictionalized dramatization and examination of the men and women who fought and died during the often violent conflicts between culture, community, and religion.
American Primeval premieres on Netflix beginning Jan. 9. Check out the official trailer below which features an exciting look at the streamers latest Western.

Coates is well known for his role as Alexander “Tig” Trager in Kurt Sutters Sons of Anarchy. He has also appeared in several other memorable roles, including White House Plumbers, The Get Back, Children Ruin Everything, and Double Down South.
He has also had recurring roles in Prison Break, Cold Cast, CSI, and CSI: Miami.
In 2025, Coates will join TWDU in Dead City, a direct spinoff of The Walking Dead, which continues the stories of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). The series is set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan, and season 2 features rival groups fighting for control of the island. Coates will play one of the leaders,
