The Princess of Wales has often honoured Princess Diana by donning her stunning emerald choker which was a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth.

The Princess of Wales is a fashion icon in her own right, after sparking several royal frenzies over her outfit choices over the years – and honouring her late mother-in-law through various ensembles. Meanwhile, it has already been said that the 42-year-old makes the perfect Queen in waiting thanks to her sheer class and elegance.

Since Princess Kate joined the Royal Family she has adopted style cues from the late Princess Diana, which include wearing her jewellery. From earrings, and necklaces, to her very own engagement ring.

Kate sweetly acknowledges her life and allows a part of Diana to live through her, which no doubt one day will be passed down to Princess Charlotte. Meanwhile, she also struck up a sweet friendship with Queen Elizabeth II and following her death has paid tribute to her on numerous ocassions.

Just months after her death back in 2022, Princess Kate carefully selected a piece of jewellery that was steeped in history from her in-laws. Prince William and Princess Kate jetted to Boston, America and attended the 2022 Earthshot prize.

Not only did the Prince, 42, make an impactful speech but his beloved wife also appeared to make an impression. Princess Kate graced the green carpet with an eye-catching emerald and diamond choker which sparkled as she greeted guests.

This dazzling design reportedly costs an eye-watering $20,000,000 due to each dimaond weighing 10 carats – which equates to around £16 million.

The piece dates back to the 20th century after it was formerly known as Queen Mary’s Emerald Choker, after she favoured the piece and wore it a number of times.

It was a gift to the Queen Mother from the Ladies of India by the Delhi Durbar during her visit with King George back in 1911.

This was to commemorate the succession of the Emperor of India during the British Reign in India. Following her death in 2002, she left it to Queen Elizabeth.

However she never publicly wore it as it is believed that she was not a huge fan of that necklace style, and had a selection of other jewels she would priotise and wear at state functions and events.

On the day of Princess Diana’s wedding day to the now King Charles, Queen Elizabeth decided to gift it to her on a lifetime loan.

Diana wore the choker on many occasions, including her 36th birthday in 1997 as it is show stopping and would cause any head to turn thanks to the delicate fine details.

Whilst it was designed to be solely worn as a necklace, Princess Diana often stepped out in the sensational choker as a headband.

The trend-setting Princess was last seen wearing her stunning diamond-and-emerald choker. She also famously wore it as a bandeau across her forehead during a 1985 tour of Australia.
