The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 is finally underway, and episode 4 is the next to hit Prime Video. Amazon takes a different route with its streaming releases, often putting out a batch of episodes at once before releasing one weekly for the remainder of the series. This has been the case for the Lord of the Rings spinoff series, with a three-episode premiere aimed to get audiences hooked for the remainder of the season. Now, Rings of Power season 2, episode 4, is almost here.

The Rings of Power‘s first three episodes were released on August 29, 2024, effectively jumping back into Middle-earth during the Second Age. Season 1 set the stage, which means the way is now clear for season 2 to really dive into the action. The first handful of episodes was undoubtedly a good start. Halbrand—actually Sauron—has begun to really set about his mission of creating the titular Rings of Power, while Elves like Galadriel, Elrond, and Gil-galad set plans to stop the Dark Lord. The story continues in Rings of Power episode 4, but when can audiences officially tune in?

So far, episodes in Rings of Power season 2 have come in just over an hour long, with episode 1 standing as the longest at 1 hour and 16 minutes. This checks out with season 1, which also contained eight episodes. In this previous installment, episodes 5, 7, and 8 were the longest, with 1 hour and 12 minutes. Given these averages, we can likely expect the remaining episodes of Rings of Power season 2 to stick to this general duration, with an estimated total runtime between 9 and 10 hours.

Rings of Power Season 2 Episodes & Lengths

Episode #, Title
Episode Length

Episode 1, “Elven Kings Under the Sky”
1 h 16 min

Episode 2, “Where the Stars are Strange”
1 h 2 min

Episode 3, “The Eagle and the Sceptre”
1 h 6 min

The Prime Video series could turn things around with an extended Rings of Power season 2 finale. However, this wasn’t the case in season 1, where episode 8 stuck with that 1-hour-and-12-minute length. Most likely, given the number of episodes and the lengths of the first three, we can expect the same in Rings of Power season 2. Regardless, there is a lot to look forward to in these upcoming Middle-earth adventures.
