Classic horror movies have been around for quite some time now. Quite a few of them still have quite an active or even a growing following. Some of them still have a growing series with new movies being pumped out or games being made directly inspired by the film.
While movies are terrific, horror games allow you to absolutely immerse yourself into the world of horror. If you are in search of a video game to play that has a similar vibe or situation experienced in a horror film, look no further. Here are a few games to play based on your favorite classic horror movie.

Subnautica is a survival horror game that takes place on an ocean alien planet you crash-landed alone on. While this isn’t exactly the premise of Jaws, the terrifying life that occupies the ocean with you will fill you with the same dread and unease as that shark did.

Still Wakes The Deep
John Carpenter’s The Thing is a horror film about a shape-shifting alien that has made its way into an arctic outpost. It is up to the inhabitants of the outpost to figure out who is really a human or who is an alien in human skin.
Still Wakes The Deep is a psychological horror game in which you work in an offshore oil rig, but the it seems to be infested with some sort of mutated creatures. Now, completely isolated from the world with no means of communication, you must figure out how to escape.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game
Killer Klowns From Outer Space is a B movie about a group of aliens who look like silly and somewhat harmless clowns who have come to Earth with murderous intentions. It’s up to a few teenagers to save their town from being eaten by space clowns.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: The Game is a horror game with fun graphics based off the movie. You can choose to either be a group of humans trying to take on the aliens or a group of alien clowns trying to harvest and kill the humans.
6Scream
Killer Frequency
Scream is a slasher horror movie about a pair of teens who decide to team up together to wreak havoc on a small town. While it has its disturbing moments, it’s also funny and witty and full of pop culture references as well as other horror movie references.
Killer Frequency is a mystery horror game in which you run a late-night radio show while also trying to assist your callers. It’s a retro-themed horror game filled with fun references that will keep you guessing who the killer is.
5Ghostbusters
Phasmophobia
Ghostbusters is a comedy horror movie, but is a classic nonetheless. The movie follows a group of scientists in New York who are dealing with ghosts, other dimensional beings, and sometimes the Stay Puft marshmallow man.
Phasmophobia is online psychological horror game in which you have to get your friends together to find evidence and collect data on ghosts. Like Ghostbusters, it’s all about teamwork and having to brave through the situation. It’s a spooky game to get together with friends and get your socks scared off.

The Last Of Us
Night of the Living Dead is a zombie horror film that follows a few strangers trying to make it through the apocalypse together. They run into multiple problem spots when they take refuge in a secluded farm house. One by one, the living are picked off.
The Last of Us is an open-world zombie game following Joel and Ellie, a pair of survivors who found each other in the apocalypse. ‘Society’ is more established in The Last of Us, but it creates a desperate situation of trying to not only fight off zombies but get Ellie somewhere safe.

Nosferatu is an old classic horror film based on Dracula, who is an immortal, soulless being who feeds on the life of others. It is a silent film but it has captured the interest of many and has inspired many works of art and literature since.
Vampyr is an open-world action RPG game in which you play Jonathon Reid. He is a doctor who has also been turned into a vampire. The game has an eerie undertone to it as you run around London, where you can bring a good name to vampires, or continue the bloodthirsty stereotype.

Poppy’s Playtime
Child’s Play is a horror movie about a serial killer’s soul being placed inside of a Chucky doll, who is then given to a child. The possessed Chucky Doll now roams freely, continuing his murder spree in the form of a terrifying doll.
Poppy’s Playtime is a puzzle horror game in which you are chased by a giant stuffed animal, Huggy Wuggy, while trying to escape a factory. If you want to experience the feeling of a terrifying toy chasing after you, Poppy’s Playtime is the way to go.
1The Exorcist
Faith: The Unholy Trinity
The Exorcist is a supernatural horror movie about a little girl, Regan, who is possessed by an ancient demon, Pazuzu. Despite countless efforts from her mother to try to help Regan, it isn’t until Damien Karras, a priest who is in turmoil with his own faith, turns up to help that Regan is finally freed.
Faith: The Unholy Trinity is a pixelated horror game in which you play as a young priest in the 1980s who is investigating unholy activities, performing exorcisms, dealing with satanic cult members, and so on. It is an intense puzzle horror game inspired by the satanic panic of the ’80s.
