Dimitrius Graham’s “Daring” R&B-Opera Fusion Stuns the Crowd! “That’s the Range!”

Dimitrius Graham is a revelation!

Dimitrius Graham is more than meets the eye. The 33-year-old Baltimore native admits that people think “he’s up to no good” at first glance because of his face tattoos, but not only is he a singer (the tattoos are all musical), he’s an opera singer at that. During his Blind Audition for Season 27 of The Voice, he showed off all that range and more.

About Dimitrius Graham’s Blind Audition on The Voice Season 27

Before taking the stage, Graham opened up about the important role singing has played in his life. “I saw gang violence, I saw the wrong things,” he said of his upbringing, reflecting, “thank God for my teacher, he saved my life…he introduced me to choir.” As a junior in high school, Graham began listening to Italian opera great Luciano Pavarotti, and now, when audiences contrast Graham’s exterior with his voice, they are “shocked.”

For his Blind Audition, Graham sang “Get You” by Daniel Caesar, earning a quick chair turn from Coach Kelsea Ballerini. The country star was shocked that her fellow Coaches weren’t hitting their buttons, though soon enough, Coach Michael Bublé turned, too. It’s becoming a bit of a pattern this season that Bublé and Ballerini like the same Artists! As the two newest Coaches, perhaps they’re more excitable than veterans John Legend and Adam Levine?

Legend praised Graham’s “daring style,” while Bublé told him, “what you’re doing is very spiritual.” Ballerini added how impressed she was by his range, saying, “You started high and then went right down low in seconds.”

Ultimately, the singer went with Team Bublé, though he made sure to tell Ballerini how beautiful she is. “How beautiful?” she jokingly insisted, to which Graham replied, “Bad. Gorgeous.”

“This is about the Artists, for the Artists. It’s not about us,” Bublé told NBC Insider of his philosophy when it comes to coaching. “We love being here. We love being part of the process. [But] here’s a reason why we’ve come and gone, and the people in the red seats change, but the show stays successful. It’s because they’ve made sure that they are so protective of the artists. And that’s the legacy of the show.”

You can watch The Voice Season 27 on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
