Cheryl has been deeply affected by the death of her ex-boyfriend Liam Payne, with one source describing it as a “wake-up call.”

The former One Direction singer sadly died in October at the age of 31 after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cheryl has been coming to terms with Liam’s death as she now faces the reality of raising their son alone.

Cheryl and Liam dated for two years and welcomed one son together, Bear. The source said Cheryl is determined to make Bear’s dreams come true this year following Liam’s death.

The source said Cheryl now realizes “life is precious and we only get one shot at it, so we need to go after what matters.” They said she was “shaken” by Liam’s death, but knows she “can’t fall apart” for the sake of her son.

“She’s using it to give her a renewed sense of purpose to live a life of joy and love,” the source told Heat Magazine. “She is determined that 2025 is going to be her fresh start.”

The source also suggested Cheryl is open to finding love again and wants to throw herself into new career opportunities. They said, “She’s more open than ever to finding love, so for her, 2025 is going to be the year that she puts herself back out there.”

The singer recently reunited with her Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Nicola Roberts for a special comeback tour. The shows were done in honor of their late badmate Sarah Harding, who sadly died after a battle with breast cancer.

It’s believed the star also wants to take her son to new places so they can “see the world together.” The source concluded, “There’s so much she’d still love to achieve and she’s got so much more living to do.”
