But instead of the wise, powerful, and brilliant craftsman fans expected, the show gave us a soft-spoken, frail, and strangely naïve version of one of Tolkien’s most pivotal characters.

And let’s be honest—this Celebrimbor is NOT what anyone had in mind.

The Problem With The Rings of Power’s Celebrimbor 🤔

In Tolkien’s lore, Celebrimbor is a genius—one of the greatest smiths in history. He is the mind behind the Three Elven Rings, a descendant of Fëanor (the greatest craftsman of the First Age), and a powerful, noble figure.

But in The Rings of Power, he’s… well… disappointing.

🔴 He lacks presence – Where is the confidence? The authority? Instead, we get a soft-spoken, almost timid elf who seems to have no command over his own forge.

🔴 He is easily manipulated – Instead of being a mastermind who unknowingly aids Sauron, this version blindly follows Halbrand’s suggestions, making him look incompetent.

🔴 His physical portrayal is underwhelming – Fans imagined a Celebrimbor radiating wisdom and power, but instead, the show gives us a version that appears far too old and unremarkable for such an important role.

Why Fans Are So Disappointed 😞

Tolkien fans were hyped to see Celebrimbor in live action. His story is tragic, powerful, and crucial to the Second Age, so expectations were sky-high.

But instead of a brilliant and visionary creator, we got an elf who:

🔻 Doesn’t seem to be in control of his own forge
🔻 Is easily outshined by Halbrand (Sauron in disguise)
🔻 Feels more like a background character than a legendary smith

Fans expected a powerful, ambitious elf struggling against Sauron’s influence—not someone who gets tricked in five minutes by a man he barely knows.

✅ Give him some dignity – He should be a tragic, noble figure—not a pawn.

If The Rings of Power wants to stay true to Tolkien’s vision, it needs to make Celebrimbor great again.
