Prince Harry and Prince William have remained close to their mother, Princess Diana’s family amid their royal rift. Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Lady Jane Fellowes continue to support the brothers.

The Spencers Support Harry And William’s Endeavors

On August 29th of this year, Prince Harry and Prince William attended the funeral of their uncle, Lord Fellowes, but did not speak. Fellowes was the husband of Diana’s sister, Jane, and Queen Elizabeth’s private secretary during her “annus horribilis.”

Harry stayed with his uncle Charles at his mother’s childhood home in Althorp when he went to the UK for the memorial service.

Princess Diana’s sisters have often joined Harry and William for events without choosing sides like King Charles’s side of the family has seemingly done.

In September, Sarah joined William at the Sovereign’s March at RAF College Cranwell in Lincolnshire. In May, Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, and his sister, Lady Jane, supported Harry for his tenth anniversary Invictus Games ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

The Spencers also attended Princess Lilibet’s christening in Montecito while the Windsors were MIA. For Diana’s 60th birthday in July 2021, Harry and William briefly reunited to unveil a new statue of their mum in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace in a touching tribute to the Princess of Wales.

The Duke of Sussex’s relationships with his mother’s side of the family haven’t suffered since his move to the US with Meghan Markle.

The Spencer clan has been working behind the scenes to reconcile Harry and his brother. It is important to Harry that he still has family connections in the UK that he can depend on.

At Princess Diana’s Funeral, Charles Spencer Vowed To Protect The Royal Brothers

Diana’s brother and sisters have been a steady source of support for him amid the chaos on his father’s side of the family. The Spencers have been there for both Harry and William throughout the years.

Perhaps the most remarkable example of his devotion is when Charles Spencer spoke at Diana’s funeral in September 1997. He addressed his oath to Diana to protect her sons:

“I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition, but can sing openly as you planned.”

In 2007, ten years after Princess Diana’s death, Harry, William, and the Spencers held a concert as a tribute to her on her 46th birthday. It was a night to remember the Princess and honor her life.

Later that year, Harry, William, the Spencers, and the royal family attended Diana’s memorial service at the Guards Chapel in London, marking the tenth anniversary of her death.

As the royal family feud continues, the Spencer clan is an anchor for both Princes and always supports them individually.

While they encourage reconciliation between the brothers, they aren’t pushing it. They understand William’s feelings of betrayal and Harry’s position over how his mother was treated.

It’s a shame that it seems like there is no end in sight to the royal rift, as Harry shouldn’t even expect an invitation to William’s future coronation unless a miracle occurs.
