And Just Like That’s second season saw Samantha Jones finally making her long awaited cameo in the final episode, and fans are already looking ahead to more Sex In The City goodness. So it’s great news for anyone hoping to dust off their Manolo Blahniks (as if we have them…) and settle down in front of the sofa, because And Just Like That season three has officially been confirmed.

The Sex and the City spin-off series sees icons Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate life in New York City in their fifties, dealing with grief, friendships, relationships and more.

Season two had everyone talking – especially thanks to Samantha Jones’ return, albeit brief – and now fans are already waiting for news about season three. So, here’s everything we know so far about a third season of And Just Like That.

What might happen in And Just Like That season 3?

In December 2024, Sarah Jessica Parker delivered the news we all needed to hear, in the shape of “new men” joining the cast for And Just Like That season 3. Unreal. Speaking about what viewers should expect from the new episodes, the 59-year-old actress told Variety:

“It feels really big, really robust and exciting. There are so many interesting stories with additional characters that rightfully find a real home. There is growth with new faces. Carrie has a wonderful storyline.”

“The story takes some big swings and we fold some big ideas into those big swings. Some of the male characters are back, and there are some new men.”

In case you need a recap, in season two, Carrie dived back into the dating pool with her ex-fiancé and fan favourite, Aidan. But the season ended with him telling Carrie that he needed at least five years to focus on his children, because they needed him.

“The only thing that I love more than I love you is my boys. I made a commitment to them, but I won’t lose you again. Just give me some time,” he tells her. Does that mean Carrie is single again, and Aidan won’t appear unless there is a time jump?

In a statement from creator and showrunner, Michael Patrick King announcing the season three news, fans can expect way more New York antics from Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte in the way we know best – navigating their love lives, careers and friendships.

“We are thrilled to spend more time in the Sex And The City universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” he said.

Will Kim Cattrall return for And Just Like That season 3?

It’s the question we’ve been asking every season since And Just Like That was first announced, and while we luckily got a cameo in season two, it appears Kim Cattrall is not set to reprise her role as Samantha Jones for season three.

Last week it was reported Kim would be returning for season three and all her scenes would see her character Samantha in London. However, Kim has just put those rumours to bed.

Over the weekend a journalist shared a link to an Elle story which contained the reports and shared their excitement for it. Kim then replied to the tweet, saying it wasn’t true.

She wrote: “Aw that’s so kind but I’m not 💋.”

While we knew it was a long shot that Samantha would return, we’re still going to need a minute to process this information.

Who is in the cast for And Just Like That season 3?

But of course, we don’t need to be sad for too long as our favourite NYC icons are returning for a third season:

Sadly one person who won’t be returning is Karen Pittman as Dr Nya Wallace, due to a scheduling conflict with a new role she has in Netflix’s Forever, as well as The Morning Show on AppleTV+.

A spokesperson for streaming service Max told Deadline, “It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That… As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others.

“Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavours.”

Separatelty, in an Instagram post from January 2024, Sara Ramirez suggested her character Che Diaz might not be back for season three at all. In a statement Sara shared condemning the entertainment industry for blacklisting actors who have showed support for Palestine, they referred to Che as “the last character I played.”

Variety then confirmed the news at the end of February 2024, with sources explaining the character of Che had reached a natural conclusion, since their relationship with Miranda had ended, and so wouldn’t be returning for new episodes.

And Just Like That season 3 release date speculation

In December 2023, a MAX teaser for upcoming content revealed the next season of the Sex and the City spin-off won’t arrive until 2025 (via Deadline.) Variety confirmed this in February 2024, explaining production would begin on season three in 2024, with a 2025 release date.

Season one was officially announced by the three main stars on social media in January 2021, before it started airing the following December 2021. Season two, meanwhile, was announced in March 2022, and started airing in June 2023, a slightly wider gap than between season 1’s announcement and schedule.

Set 11 years after the events of Sex and the City 2, the series follows Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte as they deal with the realities of grief, family, friendships, relationships and more in their fifties in New York City.

When was And Just Like That season 3 confirmed?

Max announced on 22nd August 2023 – just before season two came to a close – that the Sex and the City revival has been renewed for season three. “And Just Like That…here comes season three,” Michael Patrick King, the show’s creator casually revealed.
