Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda will be back yet again.
The eleven-episode sophomore season of And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot series, featured both the return of John Corbett’s Aidan, and a brief cameo by Kim Cattrall as Samantha. But it is not the last we’re going to see of Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda.
Ahead of the season two finale, HBO announced that Sarah Jessica Parker and co. will in fact return for a third season of And Just Like That... “As we approach the highly anticipated season finale on Thursday, we raise our cosmos to Michael Patrick King and his magnificent team of writers, producers, cast and crew who continue to charm us, 25 years later, with dynamic friendships and engaging stories. We cannot wait for audiences to see where season three will take our favorite New Yorkers,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content for Max, said in a statement.
Here’s what we know about And Just Like That… season three.
The reboot is part of the Sex and the City universe.
“We are thrilled to spend more time in the ‘Sex And The City’ universe telling new stories about the lives of these relatable and aspirational characters played by these amazing actors,” executive producer and showrunner Michael Patrick King said in a statement, per Variety. “‘And Just Like That…’ here comes season three.”
The OG Sex and the City premiered 27 years ago, and in the decades since, there have been two films plus the currently airing reboot series. “If we had tried to do Sex and the City now without any of the changes we made, it wouldn’t have been current in my mind. It wouldn’t have been anything to argue about. There wouldn’t have been a change to debate,” King said.
He adds, “When Sex and the City was good, we showed four individuals all experiencing different versions of the same question, which is, how do you fulfill yourself? That’s what we’re doing now with even more characters.”
Sarah Jessica Parker will return once again.
In season three, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) will remain the leads.
In the past two seasons, new characters on the spinoff include Seema (Sarita Choudhury), Che (Sara Ramirez), Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker), and Nya (Karen Pittman). For season three, Pittman and Ramirez will not be returning. Ramriez will not be back as Che’s storyline concluded in season two, while Pittman had scheduling difficulties to return. “It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That…,” a spokesperson for Max said in a statement, per Deadline. “As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn’t possible. Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season 3 of And Just Like That… Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavors.”
Parker and Choudhury will return, as will Mario Cantone as Anthony, Sebastiano Pigazzi as Giuseppe, and Dolly Wells as Joy.
There will be new characters, played by Rosie O’Donnell, Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, Kristen Schaal, and Logan Marshall-Green. In addition, Patti LuPone will have an arc in season three. Plus, Rosemarie DeWitt will return as Aidan’s ex-wife, Kathy.
Carrie’s voiceover will return for season three.

Parker is seen filming on location for ’And Just Like That’ on August 1, 2024 in New York City.
“Carrie’s actually writing a new book and the voiceover is the way into the book,” King told Entertainment Weekly. “When we did voiceover on Sex in the City, Carrie had this overview of everything. She was telling you what to think and what to feel. For the first two seasons of And Just Like That, I took the voiceover away because I didn’t think she knew what she was feeling. She’s starting to feel things again and have an overview of where she is in the world. Writing a book is very private, and so, in an interesting way, it’s almost a direct, intimate conversation with the viewer. Maybe there are things she’s saying to the viewer that she wouldn’t say to even her best friends.”
