After Their Scotland Visit, Claire & Jamie Will Be Ripped Apart—Outlander Season 7, Part 2 Update Reveals Why!

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Balfe and Heughan confirmed that Claire and Jamie will be separated in Outlander season 7 part 2, with Claire going back to the colonies after getting an important request as a surgeon. The actors also explained she will believe a horrible event has transpired, teasing the “emotional rollercoaster” those who haven’t read the source material are about to embark upon. Check out what Balfe and Heughan had to say below:
Caitriona Balfe: There is some heartbreak. When they get there, life has moved on and there may be some exits. But then Claire quite quickly has to leave again. She is needed back in the colonies. She gets a request to come and help somebody as only she can — the wonderful surgeon she is. When the Frasers are not together, things don’t always go very well.
Sam Heughan: This is not good. Claire believes an event happens, which is devastating. It’s not an easy time for the Fraser family, that’s for sure. But there’s so much for the book fans to look forward to, and if you don’t know the books, prepare yourself for a really emotional rollercoaster.
Caitriona Balfe: This is a very tricky time politically, and Claire has her loyalties and her allegiances. There may be a little bit of political intrigue and on top of everything else, she may or may not do some spying.
What Claire & Jamie’s Separation Means For Outlander Season 7 Part 2
The Couple’s Separation Will Heavily Impact The Story

Season 7 part 2 is the last stretch of episodes before Outlander season 8, which will be pulling from the last of Gabaldon’s books to end the Starz series. Claire and Jamie’s separation appears to be a major part of this, especially after their arrival in Lallybroch reunites the latter with his sister, Jenny (Kristin Atherton) and the older Ian (Steven Cree). While it appears these changes could be a positive for the couple, duty overseas will likely keep them apart for the majority of the forthcoming episodes.
Though it’s unclear what horrible event Claire believes will happen during the new episodes, it‘s possible she believes one of the characters in Outlander season 7 befalls some tragic fate. Depending on what she believes happened, this could influence her to become less communicative with her family overseas, perhaps drawing the separation out even further. However, since details about what will transpire haven’t been fully revealed, it remains to be seen how season 7 part 2 is truly going to play out.
Our Take On Claire & Jamie Separating In Outlander Season 7 Part 2
Their Bond Will Grow Stronger When They Reunite

Although the duo haven’t been apart for so long, Outlander season 7 part 2 separating them for the sake of the story could be an interesting development for both of their characters. While they’ll each have to experience their own stories without having each other by their side, it will likely make their bond grow even stronger when they inevitably reunite. With plenty of twists and turns that could happen, the next episodes sound like they’ll be setting up an exciting final season.
Outlander season 7 part 2 begins Friday, November 22 on Starz, consisting of 8 episodes.
