After a Decade, The Witcher 3 Fans Just Discovered This Mind-Blowing Feature!

The Witcher 3 player uncovers feature I wish I'd known about 10 years earlier

In everyone’s defence, there might be a good reason we never spotted this one

One The Witcher 3 player has just discovered a hidden mechanic that several people seem to be completely unaware of.

However, depending on which version of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3 you played, there might be a good reason for that.

As noticed by user Pboi401 over in the r/Witcher3 subreddit, one particular quality of life feature has seemingly gone unnoticed by a majority of the fanbase.

As it turns out, by opening up the radial menu and hitting the “Apply Oil” prompt, you can actually quick apply oils to your weapons without the need to go through several different menus.

Naturally, most of the comments in the thread were from people baffled about never having spotted this mechanic during their dozens of hours of play time.

“Wait what!? You don’t have to go into the menu?” replied user Ginzelini, “I knew about auto apply, but this I never knew.”

“FFS I’ve got hundreds of hours in this game and never auto applied oils,” commented user scullyftw, “Feel thick as now.”

But, just as one user pointed out, it might not actually be your fault if you’ve never encountered this mechanic throughout your dozens of hours playing The Witcher 3.

That’s because both the quick apply and auto apply options are actually version specific.

“IIRC, it was added with the next-gen update, just like the auto-apply oils option in settings,” noted user GoldberrysHusband.

“I like this one more, since it still requires me to think about it (which oil) and do it myself, although in a much easier way.”

I wonder what other little secrets like this are hidden in The Witcher 3, that even veteran players might not know of.

Either way, here’s hoping they bring this feature back for The Witcher 4. Y’know, so some of us can forget to use it for a second time.
