Aaron is one of several characters in The Walking Dead who survived losing a limb.

During the fifth season of The Walking Dead, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group were emotionally distraught over the back-to-back deaths of Beth (Emily Kinney) and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman). The group no longer had a community and found themselves without food or water. Alexandria recruiter Aaron makes them a proposal that seems too good to be true.
The tenth episode of the season, “Them” caught up with Rick and the group after events at Terminus, the church, Grady Memorial, and Noah’s (Tyler James Williams) former home. Each of these locations delivered tragedy for the group and morale was at an all time low as they had no community to call home and no idea where to obtain much needed sustenance.
This episode shows the high emotions experienced by many of the characters due to the loss of those they loved. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) was in a state of grief over losing her sister, while Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) dealt with the loss of her brother in anger. Others, including Daryl, were overcome with their grief and unsure how to carry on.
Glenn (Steven Yeun) reminds Daryl (Norman Reedus) that “We can make it together…but we can only make it together.” This proves true after they take shelter in a barn and a horde of walkers try to force their way inside during a horrific storm. The next morning, Aaron, who had been closely watching the group, introduced himself.
The Walking Dead – Aaron
Aaron was portrayed by actor Ross Marquand from season 5 until the story’s conclusion in season 11. He was a likable guy who always tried to find the best in any situation. When his husband Eric (Jordan Woods-Robinson) dies, he becomes depressed but eventually finds new purpose when he adopts an orphaned baby, Gracie.
After The All Out War with the Saviors, Aaron becomes a stronger fighter by learning from Jesus (Tom Payne) and becomes a productive member of the communities. He served on the council and took responsibility as a leader.
Aaron is one of five characters in the series to have a limb amputated. The others included Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker), Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.), and Lydia (Cassady McClincy Zhang). Of this group only Aaron and Lydia survived until the end of the series.
