Kevin Feige Teases That X-Men ’97 Has Not Revealed The True Anchor Point

Kevin-Feige-Teases-That-X-Men-'97-Has-Not-Revealed-The-True-Anchor-Point

Kevin Feige teases if X-Men ’97 has met the anchor point yet, following the 2024 debut of the Marvel animated show. X-Men: The Animated Series made a huge comeback in 2024, with the show serving as a proper sequel to the beloved title. However, X-Men ’97 season 1 came with a lot of emotional moments as various characters met their end, though there’s one important character who has yet to be introduced.

During Screen Rant’s recent interview with Feige for Deadpool & Wolverinethe Marvel Studios president was asked if viewers have yet met the anchor point in X-Men ’97. According to Feige, the show hasn’t, and is thrilled by seeing audience speculation about their identity in the show. See what Feige shared below:

Kevin Feige: No, but I love you are the third person to ask me about anchor beings and how that term and when people like you guys who’ve only seen the first 37 minutes, but when people see the whole movie, how that term has taken hold in people’s imaginations is exciting.

Who Could X-Men ’97’s Anchor Point Be?

Gambit about to die in X-Men '97

The idea of an anchor point serving when a crucial character dies in their universe, their world slowly begins to die. With that in mind, it definitely begs the question of who that character may be in the world of X-Men ’97/X-Men: The Animated Series. After season 1 of the Disney+ sequel show, there are a handful of key candidates who could possibly fill that role.

Given the massive love that exists with Gambit, it wouldn’t be shocking if he is this world’s anchor point, especially as his death in X-Men ’97 season 1 had a huge effect on most of the characters. That is why if the tease at the end of the X-Men ’97 season 1 finale with Apocalypse would be devastating if Gambit ends up being resurrected as one of his Horsemen. It would also be a bigger heartbreak if Gambit has to die again, which could then put emphasis on him possibly being the anchor point.

While her time in season 1 was cut short, Madelyne Pryor was another mutant who died and could potentially have that role. Whether or not the anchor point concept will be further expanded upon in X-Men ’97 season 2 remains to be seen, as it may not be a plot point that doesn’t get addressed until season 3. Until then, the Marvel audience can relieve every episode of X-Men ’97 season 1 on Disney+.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to open in theaters on July 26.
