Harrison Ford speaks to Sam Wilson in Captain America Brave New World and Red Hulk stands in the shadows

Marvel Studios reveals an official first full look at President Ross’ full Red Hulk transformation at D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, raising anticipation for the MCU’s Captain America: Brave New World. Just a few months ahead of Captain America: Brave New World‘s February 2025 release date, Marvel Studios reveals what the MCU’s next Gamma monster will look like. Harrison Ford replaces the late William Hurt as President Ross, who finally gets a taste of Gamma radiation after years of tormenting Bruce Banner and Earth’s superhero community.

At D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where Screen Rant is present, Marvel Studios shares official Captain America: Brave New World footage, which shows Harrison Ford’s President Ross transformed into Red Hulk behind the presidential lectern in front of the White House, roaring as he prepares for battle.

The Captain America: Brave New World footage suggests that Ross will transform into the Gamma monster in the middle of a speech.

How Red Hulk Compares To The MCU’s Original Hulk

Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk Resembles Mark Ruffalo’s Phase 1 Savage Hulk

Harrison Ford’s Red Hulk looks quite similar in build and size to The Avengers‘ savage Hulk. Going by the footage shown in Captain America: Brave New World‘s first trailer and in Marvel’s D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event showcase, Red Hulk is just as muscular as Hulk, at least as big as the original Hulk was back in Phases 1 and 2, with a hunched back and large arms. However, Red Hulk’s face looks more human than savage Hulk, and he sports red eyes and dark hair with white streaks on his temples.

Red Hulk’s size might be as strong as Hulk was in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, but the source material suggests he will be more powerful. In the comics, Red Hulk is able to absorb energy and release it as heat. This could be an upgrade provided by Samuel Sterns a.k.a. the Leader, who may be looking to create more powerful Gamma monsters than the original Hulk. However, Red Hulk’s upgrades could come with new weaknesses. For instance, Marvel Comics’ Red Hulk seems to grow hotter instead of stronger as he gets angrier, unlike Bruce Banner’s Hulk alter ego.

Captain America: Brave New World‘s Red Hulk bears a closer resemblance to Harrison Ford than the MCU’s original Hulk did to Mark Ruffalo in Phases 1-3. Again, this could be the result of an upgrade, as Bruce Banner struggled to control the Hulk for years in both the comics and the MCU, whereas Thaddeus Ross has immediate control over his Red Hulk persona in the source material. However, Red Hulk may still be more feral than his comic book counterpart, at least in during first transformation.
