The cast and crew of Deadpool & Wolverine had an emotional reaction to seeing the pair together for the first time on set.
The anticipation and hype around Deadpool & Wolverine cannot be put into words. The film signifies a lot for Marvel fans. Not only are they excited to see Deadpool back in action, but the fact that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is coming back with him is even more amazing. The film can easily be called one of the most anticipated films to have ever come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the cast is hyping it up accordingly.
Ryan Reynolds recently gave an interview with Jackman and Shawn Levy, the director of the movie, where they talked about the project, as a whole. They specifically talked about the significance of the movie and revealed how the cast and crew reacted to key moments.
Deadpool & Wolverine Was A Emotion Movie To Make
Recently, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy gave an interview with Fandango, where they talked about their highly anticipated Marvel film, Deadpool & Wolverine. When the conversation touched on the significance of both the characters and their on-screen reunion, Reynolds looked back to his first day on set with Jackman.
I think the first day Hugh and I were in a scene together in the movie, and we walk down this road together, we were standing side by side. I remember I have never had this happen in my life, a bunch of crew members came up.
The Deadpool actor revealed that when the shooting for their first dramatic-walk scene commenced, many on set became quite emotional. So much so, that they felt the need to approach Reynolds with all their feelings.
One said that ‘that was the best day of my life.’
He specifically remembered one crew member who told him that watching that scene being made was the best day of their entire life. Specifically talking about such a reaction, Reynolds then mentioned how those making the film understood the responsibility they had in their hands.
The Building of a Legacy
Ryan Reynolds elaborated on the significance more, stating that he knew how much it meant for fans to see Deadpool and Wolverine together like this. While the two characters have shared the screen before with the same actors in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the impact of that was not nearly as massive as the upcoming film.
After the failure of such an ionic duo in 2009, Deadpool & Wolverine simply had to get their dynamic right for the sake of fans. It would seem that those who were making the movie understood this aspect to their very core.
So you realize how much seeing those two guys together, seeing ketchup and mustard together, on the big screen means to people. It’s something we don’t take lightly at all. So we’re very careful when we are talking about the legacy of Wolverine. I mean, we sh*t all over Deadpool’s legacy. But we are very careful with that one and how it relates.
Reynolds also talked about the legacy of both characters and how they were handled behind the scenes. While he joked about Deadpool’s impact, which is often done by all of his writers, it would seem that Wolverine’s legacy was taken a lot more seriously.
This is not surprising, as many fans feared that the movie would destroy the peace that Logan gave to fans of the character.
