NBA News: Antetokounmpo disappointed. He doesn’t blame the coach
Giannis Antetokounmpo did not hide his disappointment with the way the Bucks performed in the tournament semifinals against the Pacers in the NBA In-Season Tournament.
The basketball player had a great night with 37 points and 10 rebounds, but the Bucks lost 119-128 to the Pacers in the first game of the Final Four in Las Vegas.
“Our talent level is amazing, but we need to be more organized,” Giannis Antetokounmpo said after the game, explaining to the media why the Bucks couldn’t make it.
– I feel like sometimes we’re not organized at all. We don’t know what we want to achieve in attack, and sometimes in defense we don’t sprint back. We don’t make many three-point shots. We need to be better in many aspects, he emphasized.
– Nobody in this league will give you anything for free. Sometimes I feel like we expect that just because we have great players, others will lie down and give up the match without a fight.
That’s not how it works. We have to be better. We have to go out there and take it. We’re great players, but if we don’t go out there and compete, they won’t respect us.”
Giannis, however, did not blame the Bucks coaching staff for the way the team was playing.
“Coaches can say whatever they want and put us in a position to be successful, and you hope they do it for you.
But you’ve got to make plays, you know? If you’re not sprinting back on defense, it’s not the coaches’ fault you’re not sprinting back.
If you are unable to make a serve at the end and you give the ball to the opponent, it is not the coaches’ fault. You just have to come to terms with it, he said.
“We need to talk as a team and hopefully we can get our chemistry up to speed.” It’s not about the coach. We have to become better. Now everything depends on us, commented Giannis Antetokounmpo.
