Warriors are gradually declining?

The 2023–24 season has not been going according to plan for the Golden State Warriors, who are rooted in the 11th spot in the West. Their season just took a turn for the worse due to Draymond Green‘s recent actions, which have been leading them astray.

The Warriors forward was slapped with an indefinite suspension after he hit Phoenix Suns’ center Jusuf Nurkic in the side of his head on Tuesday night. This is notably his second suspension this season and sixth overall, which is very concerning considering his role in the team.

However, Warriors’ leader Stephen Curry is being dragged into the fray for lacking leadership skills and condoning Green’s violent behavior.

Does the media treat Stephen Curry differently than LeBron James?

During ESPN’s latest episode, the panel’s discussion centered around Dray Magic‘s suspension. According to former NBA player Jay Williams, this incident has also shed light on how differently the media treats Stephen Curry and LeBron James.

“We would have held LeBron James accountable. We would have been having microphones in his face 24/7, Greeny [Mike Greenberg]. Asking him question after question about his teammate’s behavior and why, you know, if he condoned behavior like that,” noted former Chicago Bulls player.

However, on the other hand, he believes the media let Curry off the hook easily without having him take responsibility or pestering him with questions like they would to James. Williams further added, “The way we treat those two and how we handle those for both being in the conversation for some of the greatest players of all time, let’s just acknowledge for the fact that we treat them differently.”

Are the Warriors inching toward their decline?

Green’s actions could put a dent in the Golden State Warriors’ championship aspirations this season.

The Warriors’ Big 3 including Green, Curry, and Klay Thompson have played a huge role in the Golden State’s rise from obscurity to a dominant dynasty, leading them to four championships.

However, the team hasn’t looked like their championship days for a long time.

Klay Thompson’s performance has plummeted, and Green’s actions continue to tax the team. Although Curry has managed to retain his title form, he won’t be able to burden the team’s load alone.

Adding to their challenges, younger players like Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody are struggling to get important minutes in clutch time. Despite a promising 6–2 start, the Warriors have dropped 4–11 since. And Green’s ejection has pushed their season closer to the brink much more quickly than anyone anticipated.

Considering their losing record (10-13) and their defensive anchor’s indefinite absence, they might miss out on a playoff berth if they don’t make any moves before the trade deadline. What do you think about this situation? Let us know in the comments.
